My mate popped in a couple of hours ago. We grabbed a beer and talked about the footie and of course SL. He hadn't heard of it before, so 2 beers later (and a JD or 3) he was hooked. He wanted to go and try it out - oh yes that's right, it's Fook-Up Day - so he was left a bit grumpy that he couldn't get on. Off to the kitchen he went for more beers, and saw on the fridge door a note I had shoved on it "Jobs To Do on Fook-Up Day" - 2 things were listed - Vacuum Cleaner & Iron. Now I guess the ladies out there reading this are thinking "Yes and so?" But to us chaps, what and how do they work! So being well merry, we thought we'd have a go with them ... only thing is is it better to vacuum around things (as I don't move things anyway) or lift them up ? And as for the iron - is there a special table I need, or can I use the dining room table? My mate didn't stick around when I threw the marigolds at him

You can save time if you iron the clothes WHILE you wear them.

You crawl around the floor pushing the iron back and forth, with the vacuum cleaner you spread the clothes on a table, place the vacuum on top of them and switch it on. You do the above entirely at you own risk and I take no responsibility whatsoever for the consequences

Only bother lifting them if there's someone to impress with feats of strength. From: Bod Redgrave And as for the iron - is there a special table I need, or can I use the dining room table? Any reasonably flatish surface will do -- just lay a somewhat clean towel down first.

Yeah I iron on my kitchen counter and put a towel down first. If your towel is just very slightly damp, it'll have the effect of steaming your clothes, which gets the wrinkles out faster.

From: Zaphod Kotobide What's an iron? Some guys I dated classified it as the space between their mattress and box spring.

The cat and dog will usually move when the vacuum comes out, Otherwise if it is too big for the vacuum to roll over, it should be left in place. If you pick it up, well that will cause you to have to find a place to put it. Before you know it, you won't be able to find anything because it will be in the proper place.

Chris is right, don't move stuff. You'll just find a new space that you have to vacuum, which definitely causes more work in the long run. Besides, the next time that you vacuum, you'll remember that space under the object, and will feel guilty if you don't vacuum it again. If you just don't vacuum it in the first place, the logic will be "oh i've never moved the furniture, so I don't need to vacuum under it."

Besides if you don't vacuum, any small children who visit will always be assured of finding tasty and nutritious treats. This will save you from having to find something in the fridge for the little buggers.

I'm not allowed to do housework since the flood, and the fire in the dryer.

As long as you have mod rights stick in a camping sign saying "L$2 per hour" and hey presto someone will likely do it for you

I got your ironing board right here, mate. No, wait a minute. The ironing board is holding up the music keyboard. Never mind.
