Poseball Theft ?

My friend has a club, and has purchased several pose-balls. All was well for a while, then they went missing. It appeared that they had been stolen.

New Sim, New club, and she, just the other day, purchased another few of the popular sets for people to enjoy. She locked them down, but somewhere between 4am, and this evening, they all have gone missing again - presumed stolen.

Can pose-balls, bought directly from the vender be stolen, or is this an SL glitch ?
How is this possible ?
Any way to prevent it ?

These things are very expensive, and to have this happen is just devastating.

Any hints and tips are greatly received.

Thank you in advance.

No, they cant be stolen. they could have been no copy and set for sale, in that case someone could have bought them. its also possible it was a glitch, but first "clear your cache" and then recheck your inventory ( or have her check hers ) to be sure they were not returned.

It also may be that they poseballs went into transparent mode after being used. Try turning on View>>Beacons>>Scripted Items and see if they are actually still there. Most poseballs are also scripted with hide/show functions, they may merely be hidden.....

Most poseballs will show themselves if you go to where they are supposed to be and just type in chat '/1 show' (without the quotes, of course). Kind of a standard thing most pose-ball makers do so you can hide them when you're not using them. To hide them again, just type '/1 hide'.

Sorry folks - Panic over with many thanks to the lady who helped us!!!!

She advised:
"Any chance your friend's poseballs are just hidden? "show" and "/1 show" (without the quotes, by themselves in main chat)

View / Show Transparent... do they appear there with that?

There's some "hide" or "show" command for them then though someone probably just hid them all. If you right-click and Edit... it's usually in the description field

The "Show Transparent" worked for us...just thought I'd post her advice in case it happens to anyone else.

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THE PERSON THAT HELPED US - YOU ARE AN ANGEL !!!!!!!! :)

Really happy you have everything back, Jinny :).

Just for completion's sake, there are a few cases where things can get "stolen" (if they're transfer) that a lot people aren't aware of:

* someone with mod rights can simply "Take" any object you have rezzed so it's generally not a good idea to permanently leave someone with them, no matter how much you trust them right now

* if something has "Share with Group" set, then someone else in the group (who has the ability to) can simply "Take" that object as well

* for group-deeded items someone in the group (again with the proper ability set) can set the item for sale and buy it back from the group

If you - accidently - put something for sale and someone came along and bought it, you'd have a record of it on your transaction history on the site (make sure to check "Include L$0";).

Cases where things can just dissapear after being rezzed:

* you rezzed them and afterwards the sim crashes (if it happens while you're there, a telltale sign is the "Your location isn't available" upon relog). If it's been more than an hour since you rezzed them, it should be safe

* the sim you were on was rolled back to a point before you rezzed them (won't apply to a mainland sim, and hopefully when a private sim owner rolls back, they'd let all their tenants know about it)

* someone with mod rights deleted the object, or (if it was something you built yourself) the land/sim owner deleted it (if the item is no copy then a delete just acts as a return)

* "Allow everyone to move" was checked and someone dragged it off somewhere

* the item just *poof*'ed for no real reason. This is rare but it does seem to happen every now and then

I think that's most everything :).
