Can you still tp to any of the Help Islands & any Orientation Islands?

Hi guys,

I'm having problems TPing to:

1) ANY of the Orientation Islands
2) ANY of the Help Islands
3) the plain "Sandbox" sim

I'm having these problems on 3 different PCs, one with Vista and 2 with XP.

So I filed a support request on the 7/26 and finally on 8/3 they reported back saying this:



I highly doubt this is the case, since at first another employee (Varas Linden) asked me to supply the DxDiag.txt and SecondLife.log files so that he could diagnose the problem and then he came back telling me that I was having a firewall problems and closed my ticket.
Obviously, I didn't have any problems with my router and/or the windows firewall since I opened from the start the necessary ports there and I even played the game with a dsl usb modem directly attached to my PCs and nothing changed...

Furthermore, last Saturday when they were working on the grid I noticed than only 1 island was showing up on the map for the Help Island and only 1 island was showing up on the map for the Orientation Island.
Guess what: I coud tp fine back & forth in/out of them!!! I could still not get to the plain "Sandbox" sim, though.
Then again multiple islands for those places appeared shortly after and the tp was not working again.
Then again yesterday it showed just 1 island for each of the first 2 sims and I could tp fine again!
Then multiple islands appeared and it was broke again.

So could you tell me whether you, more experienced people, can tp to those 3 places without problems???

Once you leave them, you can only get to these places if you're a Linden.

There are public versions that anybody can get to, though. Check in your Inventory - the Library->Landmarks folder will have LMs.

Just do a search for Help Island Public or Orientation Island Public

I Thought you could not go back to help Island after leaving but then there was a message a few months ago when you logged in to say that you could now go back to help or Orientation Island....

So as DaQbet says just search it...

Yep. Or just look in the library where there are already landmarks for the places you can still get to.

Not quite. You can get to the Orientation/Help Islands (all of them) if you're a member of the Second Life Mentors group, as well. So, the folks that were helping the OP out wrt troubleshooting may have made the assumption that the OP was a member of that group. Not sure, of course.

If it makes you feel any better, I'll tell you that an avatar's alt, who thinks they're a big shot because they own land, can be stuck on the Orientation Island for the longest time before noticing the huge "TELEPORT FROM HERE" billboard. So I heard from "a friend."

I've verified it and TPing to the Help & Orientation islands that have "Public" in the name works as expected.
