Do I read correctly that there is a problem with "... has left the session" messages not appearing all the time, and LL are actually trying to fix it? Can they not find a way to break it more thoroughly, please?
Every time someone posts "Hi" to the <insert name of support group here>, 50 people rush to try and hit the close button before the other 49 do so and trigger 49 spam IMs.
Short of a proper fix to the system, does anyone have any useful strategies for dealing with this?
(Actually I have one - in one group that I belong to, a notice went out stating that anyone who started a group IM without good reason would be summarily ejected from the group.)

The problem was the message would not appear if someone talked and left the session but would for everyone who did not talk and left the session. Basically the exact opposite of what should occur.

I havn't been in world yet, but looking at the blog it would seem it's been fixed. By fixed, I mean back to the way it was before, which is good enough /me pats LL on the back Vale

We just had to send a notice to everyone NOT to send any messages using the group because the problem persists. Perhaps another fix is in the works.

I would rather it NEVER say when someone leaves, whether they talked or not.

Thanks, Rocketman. Yes, we fixed that issue during this morning's downtime. Look for more fixes to groups and IMs soon! Thanks for your patience.

From: Vale Vieria /me pats LL on the back Its definately good that they fixed it, but in my opinion, they really should only get a pat on the back for something that they didn't break in the first place.

It is still not fixed. If I close a session, I shouldn't hear stuff spoken after I left, but I do. And the permission bug is odd, too. As far as I am concerned, it is still broken.

NOT FIXED. Or maybe you missed a sim on the rolling update...
I cannot leave a group IM session...it just keeps reopening!

It would be handy to be able to choose whether to receive IMs from any given group. There are some that I need to belong to for management reasons, but I really don't ever wish to hear the chatter from.

Since I am only in groups cos people in places I visit seem to think I need it, I think I shall ditch all my groups. Seems the only reliable way to stop having to hit the 'X' every five minutes

Busy mode works for me.... it suppresses the group spam, but direct IMs will ping you.

The issue is they said it was fixed...and it isn't. Or the restart missed my sim. I left Fashion Consolidated over this issue and will have to kill other groups as well. I don't want to have to be in perpetual busy mode to stop getting IM chatter all the time.

How do you keep IM chatter from appearing in the chat window? I could ignore the spam if it stayed contained by the IM window.

Sweet, look in Preferences and there is an option for showing IM in chat history. You probably have it ticked.

From: Cristalle Karami Busy mode works for me.... it suppresses the group spam, but direct IMs will ping you. The trouble is that busy mode blocks chat. I'm often in the position of wanting a long involved conversation with someone, and not to be interrupted by IMs. Blocking IMs and not chat would be very useful.

But you can pull up the chat history to see what is being said as it is said. Do you really need to stare at the avatar in front of you?
