Where can I get some help with SL now. Everytime I log in the colors on my screen start going haywire and then I freeze up. This is also happening to others. I tried calling Linden Labs but they are not answering the phone. I am a paid for account and I feel neglected because I can't get any answers from anyone on all of this.

someone please please help me with this

Start by making sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. More so if you have Vista. Go to your card maker's website and check it out.

Calveen I have the latest drivers. All this started with the new download. It seems many are having this problem for some reason and there is nowhere we can go for help since live help is now gone.

Perhaps if you described your system a bit more someone could give specific help.

One thing I've seen a lot of recently: if the graphics card is overheating, SL has big problems.

That doesn't correlate much with the new update, but I'm no expert. Good luck, I wish I could help more.

This is what I usually do:

1- Uninstall SL. Reinstall SL. See if it works now.
2- If that fails, I make sure I have the very latest video drivers for my OS. Manually delete the SL files, usually all in a folder labelled, tada, Second Life in the Programs folder. Now reinstall SL. Try it now.
3- Also, make sure you have adequate motherboard drivers.
4- Usually by this time I'm ok. Next step is to defragment your hard drive if you have a PC. I have no idea what Mac folks do.
5- Last step in desperation is first save your latest video drivers somewhere OFF your hard drive, like on a USB flash drive or other kind of hard drive. Then, DELETE all of your video driver files. Now, reinstall your video drivers. If you are on a PC, reboot your machine. Now try it.
5.5- Get an air can, and maybe something to cover your eyes and mouth:
· Hold CPU/GPU fan still with your finger.
· Spray air, remove dust.
· Repeat with all heat sinks / fans.
6- If you are using Vista, do what you can to install or dual boot off Windows XP. SL likes XP more than Vista.
7- If none of the above helps, I have no clue. There is an outside chance your video card is failing or another piece of hardware is failing. Probably not. Perhaps your video card is overheating. If so, (crude but it works) put a box fan or oscillating type fan to blow on your case to give you more ventilation. If your video card really is overheating, I don't know what else to tell you.
8- Absolute last resort (besides replacing hardware) is to reinstall Windows. Last resort.

Deactivate OpenGL if it's active (it's in the preference, adv graphics tab I think). It worked for the rainbow texture issue and would be an easy thing to try before you go the unintstall/reinstall route.
