How do I whisper easily?

I can "say" and "shout" easily during chat, but is there an easy and convenient way to whisper in chat? Or do people just IM someone standing right next to them to whisper?

When I conduct business with other parties, we always just IM. It's the safest way to ensure nobody else hears your conversation.

Yes, haven't you noticed people standing or sitting together and being silent for long periods? IM.

Also, you know you can do a multi-way IM? It's a relatively new feature and a lot of seasoned SLers don't know it yet. If they're all friends, just control-click to select all the parties, and then push the IM button at the bottom of the Friends list.

You can also do this using calling cards; select them all and then right-click -> IM.

But it would be nice to whisper easily.

If you don't mind messing with a repeater object, you can build an object that "whispers" for you within 5m or so. Just have a listen that then repeats the message with llWhisper.
