You can transfer everything, except what is no-transfer. You cant transfer your inventory as a whole, only the items in it, as long as they are transfer.

aha! this is very close to something I wondered:
Understood that you can 'give' another character you see, transferrable goods but what about first to second account transfers when you can only log one in at a time?
Regards.

The same way as giving to another person. You find your other avatar on search, open their profile and simply drag and drop on the profile. When you log in as the recieving avatar, the inventory will be waiting for you.

Ah, don't try transferring too many items at once..... I've found that transfers can get capped. If you have a bit of time to spare, pack everything you want to transfer into a box and then send it. The asset server will treat it as a single item rather than the bazillion items you packed inside.

Hit Control-4. It'll bring up the prim creator thingie. Select the cube (It should be set their automatically if you've never used it before). Click on the ground and it'll make a box. Then it should automatically switch the creator to the editor. Click the More>> button. Go to the "Contents" tab. You can put all your stuff in the box by dragging it from your inventory into the contents window on the editor.

Be sure to rename the box, otherwise you might get confused if you leave it named "Object".

LOL, could have saved $25 if this had been here yesterday - just bought a box .. still, a lot prettier than the one I'd have made ;-)

don't you have to be in world for your avatar to show up in search? This is the problem I am having...trying to move inventory from one avatar to the new one.

No your Alt does not have to be logged in to transfer inventory. Just do a search for your avatar whilst you are online then drag the items from your inventory onto the profile of your alt.

When you log in as your alt you will recieve the items you have just transfered :)

when you search (if you're in the People tab), be sure to NOT tic the 'Online' box.
if you do, then only online peeps will be found.
