Since one can set an object to the correct group then leave that group, the only reason to stay in most merchant groups is to change the rezzed objects. I wonder if there could be an addition to Group functions that could allow a list of former members, OKed by the group owner, to join without needing owner permission. So it would be: A forms Group 1 and invites B, C, D, E. They all place objects and B and C leave the group. A has a list of all members, and one of the default role capabilities is "rejoin any time." A unticks that capability for D, because D reveals herself to be an asshat. B needs to change his vendor, so he rejoins the group, changes the vendor, then leaves. C never needs to rejoin as all her things are networked. Vote if it seems useful: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-5349Of course, it might be totally unworkable

There's an "easier" solution as long as you're not moving to a different location:
* rez a prim * set it to the group * leave the group * drop items you want rezzed under the group into the prim you created * rez the contents of the prim with llRezObject
The rezzed objects will inherit the group from the prim that rezzed them so you can "easily" create new prims under the group even though you're no longer a member.

From: Osprey Therian Since one can set an object to the correct group then leave that group, the only reason to stay in most merchant groups is to change the rezzed objects. That's why I set a prim to group and use a script run from that prim to rez and maintain my mall spaces instead of staying in groups. Usually my signboard. When I click it it re-rezzes any prims that aren't in-world, and remembers the location of the prims that are. I just need to move the new object to the right place and click it again and it's saved. It's kind of handy, but I haven't had the tuits to productize it. Edit: what Kitty said.

From: Osprey Therian That has potential to be abused, doesn't it? Not that everything doesn't, I suppose. How would you abuse it? Changing it would also break content (ie a rezzer/"unpacker" for a house, furniture that rezzes poseballs, etc) if object creation/entry or allow scripts was turned off for "Everyone".

From: Kitty Barnett How would you abuse it? Heh - no more than anything else, so disregard. From: Kitty Barnett Changing it would also break content (ie a rezzer/"unpacker" for a house, furniture that rezzes poseballs, etc) if object creation/entry or allow scripts was turned off for "Everyone". All I said is to add the "rejoin any time" feature, not changing anything else. What do you mean?
