a place for L$ loans????

Hey. sorry if this was covered. I search and did not see it...
I was wondering if there was a place I could get a 500L$ loan from? I REALLY need it. I was not sure, but figured I would check. Any help would be most appreciated.

.....Funny...... That's why I am asking about a place that offers L$ loans.... My RL account is empty at the moment. I don't use it alot IRL so I don't usually fill it up... I am waiting for my next check to put more money in it... Now.... I realize that was most likely a sarcastic remark (which I care nothing for), but at least you bothered to read my post(^_^), so thanks.
No I am not asking if someONE can loan me money. I wouldn't do that. I am asking if there is a place like a loan shark, or L$ loaning office around? If they only give out a small amount that's okay, I only need L$500, for a gadget I saw.

Currently, $500Lindens is only $2.18 USD. the best place is to use "buy lindens" and spend a little RL cash to get something you want in SL.

To answer your question better- I think I remember reading proposals of a possible Loan place opening, but I don`t see how that could work given the way things go around here. (No RL laws to hold you to paying that 500L back). I answered the way I did because many come in here asking for money and I dont think they realize how cheap it really is.

Everything you see in SL is created by regular users like you and I. The money in the economy was put there out of our own pockets. I could build an office I suppose, stick a sign reading 'bank' on it and offer to lend you money, but that would be pretty silly because how do I know you'll pay me back? Unlike proper banks IRL, I won't have any legal options at my disposal should you then mute me or never login again. There is no such thing as 'good credit' here, so the loan would have to be secured against something. If you had that something, I'm guessing you wouldn't be looking for a loan.

You could try camping I suppose (assuming places with chairs still exist) but L$500 is like $2USD. Can you really not stretch that far? I have that amount (in my own currency) in my pocket right now because I'm planning on nipping across to the 24 hour garage and buying a can of coke and a packet of crisps in a minute. I won't have much change left. It's really not much.

There are actually a couple loan places but I think they require collateral...which equals your land.

I've never needed to buy ANYTHING in SL that badly!!

No... I know it's cheap, I just set my account up in my profile, so it took a buck from my account (I only had $2.50), then It would not let me transfer money... So I redid it like it said and it took ANOTHER dollar from my account... So I'm waiting the "few days" it takes to get that back... I just needed a loan until I get that back(^_^); sorry for complicating it.
Thanks for answer. I see your point.. Someone needs to make a script that keeps track of who loans, and when the deadline is up it does something like checks there L$ account and if there is enough takes the amount needed, If not enought sends a notice to both the Loaner and the Loanie. That would work good I think(^_^). That would also keep track of people. Another add-on would be for every [add deadline] passed the script adds like 10% to the total due. Does that sound good?

i don't want any L$ automatically taken from my account unless it's for tier or membership dues, and i know when those are coming, so i watch to make sure they don't pork me or something.

no one is going to lend you money, because no matter which way you slice and dice it, there is no true way to recover it except by sheer luck that the borrower is honest.

if you camp for a couple of days, you'll have the $L to buy your gadget. plus, you'll have $US in the bank to buy milk and eggs in RL.

It's not really a loan, beacause I'm not expecting to get the money back, but once you're on your feet again, if you see someone else who needs a bit of help, it would be kind of cool if you gave them a hand, too.

If you have land you can get a loan from one of the many banks in SL but be warned the interest rates are ridiculous (i saw one at 11% per month the other day).

If you are less than 30 days old i recommend money tree hopping.

Otherwise i guess you could camp, or how about trying to make the gadget yourself.

Eiji, seriously...if you haven't got enough money in your RL bank account to buy even 500L$, then for goodness' sake step back, take a deep breath and put things in perspective. RL comes first. Get your life in order. There are plenty of ways to make L$ in SL but most take a little while before you get any income at all. Now I know there's many kind and generous people in SL, but it's not a good idea to fish them out as that's one of the fastest ways known to turn people against you.

Wait, I thought everyone was saying those banks were ponzi schemes. Now you're telling us they actually have a viable business model?

if youve read any of my posts, you'll know that i'm not one of the people claiming the banks are ponzi schemes. In fact when those posts come up as they do on a semi regular basis, i generally point out that this is how the banks could actually make the profit required to pay all the interest they owe.

And yet the ponzi scheme calls continue, sure there probably are some untrustworthy individuals out there but some are simply loan sharks charging huge amounts of interest on the loans they provide.

Well, I am glad someone was able to step forward and help the original poster.

The problem is, far too many new Players will just beg for money. They sign up for a free account, refuse to set up payment information so they can buy L$, and then seem shocked that content creators who put a lot of hours and effort into making some cool product actually want to get paid a few dollars for their efforts. For most experienced people, walking up to a stranger and asking for money is just plain rude. And even though the original poster was offering to repay that money, there is no assurance that a stranger would or could do so.

The safest bet is to ask someone who knows you and trusts you. I have, rarely, done this before, in both directions. When you know it is a person you see frequently anyway, it's easier to trust each other with a loan.

The BEST way however is just to sit back and wait till your finances will cover the purchase. It's not like you're gooing to starve to death if you don't buy virtual groceries. And that "cool gadget" will still be available in a few weeks. Be patient.

The one case I can justify for a loan in SL is when you have a tier or land rental payment due, and can't afford do cover it until your next RL payday. There, you need to pay or you might lose the land. But for most anything else, just chill and get the gadget later, when you can afford it.
