I ask this now, as the "Friends online" thing on the SL website is disabled again and i believe its close to being permantly taken away(based on my guess).
So to be prepared, i ask now

Is there a way to find whether friends are online without starting up Second Life/logging in etc.

Yes the friends online option might be removed and I think you might have to create another avatar to see who is online for you.
Unless of course your new ava hides their presence to you!!........spooky!!!!! |

But from the program description: "This program simply pulls the online status of your friends from the Second Life website which is the reason why your Second Life login information is needed." So its would just be an HTML parser ![]() |

You can see your friends online also by just coming to the website and looking for the friends online link on this website. But those same friends need to have it enabled of course.
And if they have the 'stalking feature' checked for you too, they're name will be a link to the slurl for where they are at in game. |

Unfortunantly, the web Friends Online is offline at this time.
