DCMA Class Action against CopyBot

Having consulted with my lawyers, we seem to be secure in bringing a class action suit against the CopyBot distributors under at least 3 subsections of DCMA Section 1201.

Aight, if you did this, you would need to find a way to let a (I'm so new don't even know how much we can cuss on here yet) @$#%-load of people know about it. Blimps could be orbitin big parcels with a marquee on the side sayin: CLASS ACTION AGAINST COPYBOT... SEE SL FORUMS...

or whatever...shops could use billboards and ad benches to put the message out too.

I aint the big activist (like I was about 9 years ago, but it would have to be publicized in SL first. That's just my 2 cent

How are we supposed to know if our objects have been copied, duplicated, given to others, resold?



Could we go about this class action suit this way: Add up the average yearly income of products sold and just use that number? Because of the copybot affectively makes everything in secondlife has gone from something of value to zero! So everyone original seller that was making X amount will now be making $0

That's not AT ALL true.

CD-Rs haven't reduced produced CDs' value to $0, nor has copybot reduced the value of the goods you own to zero. They're still worth whatever you pay/paid for them.

You might want to find a lawyer who knows that its "DMCA", not "DCMA".

Ok great idea, but it has a serious flaw.

The guys selling it in world were doing so under an unverified account, no payment on file.

Same problem and question we've posed to LL with no talk or results - How do you go after someone that has no identity?

there's no way you'd ever get enough money out of this to recoup the cost of a lawyer. I hope you didn't pay too much for your consultation with your lawyer (or "laywers" hehe).

First of all the person you're suing has to have assets.

Whats the name of the law firm? I suppose there's a slight chance you'd talk to a lawyer about this for cheap enough that you'd eat the cost... but then... would he advise you to just throw up a forum post without any RL contact information? Seems like an inefficient and unfair way to get the word out. What exactly did he say? Make a forum post about it and get back to me?
