I'm looking to host a party on a PG parcel on the mainland, but I've begun to worry about the PG/M rating of the music choices. It won't be a constant stream of profanity, but the F word is in a few of my favorite songs. HELP!

I'm gonna go w/ yes, better to be safe then sorry. I don't know however if it is NOT PG music if it's against the TOS. And I guess it all comes down to your listeners, if they don't want to hear it they could turn the speakers off.
Some people take the 'this is PG land so I will not be subjected to anything I find distastful' stance QUITE seriously. Others will just turn it down. Not a lot of help I know ![]() _____________________

PG-13 has the "F-bomb" in movies a few times. Not all of course, but some do.
If this party is on your parcel just tell the guests their may be some langauge in the music. Maybe even make a sign for the door lol. That may sound extreme but it sounds like you want your butt covered so that could do it. ![]() _____________________

generally speaking the 'f bomb' in a pg area is a no-no be it by stream or by text... most songs have 'radio edits' where profanity etc is removed and you could try and go with those if you can find them

I know some popular SL DJs who usualy do their shows on Mature sims that will try very hard to "tone it down" when they do run shows from PG areas. Sometimes with amusing results.
![]() How strict you need to be probably depends on whether your party is open to the public or "just friends". If it's just friends and none of them will be offended if a few f-bombs slip in, they're not likely to get you in trouble and LL generaly respects your right to do what you want on your PG land as long as you keep it private and out of view/hearing (I.e. you can "get romantic" with your partner in your walled off bedroom but you can't be an exibitionist or let your neighbors hear it). If it's not your land and/or if it's a party open to the public, then I would definately take measures to find "clean" edits of your songs. _____________________

Once or twice, I've been flying around and hit land with profanity in the audio stream. (This was before the little "play" button existed, so you always got subject to music if you had it turned on in your preferences).
I asked a Liason about it, and I was told to abuse report the land, that PG land should NOT have profanity in the audio stream. You're probably better off avoiding music with profanity in it. You don't want the trouble of having to fight an abuse report, so it's best to play it safe. |

the music stream on YOUR land regardless of rating

Even if u are on a PG Sim people cannot hear your stream unless they are on YOUR land
so neighbors cannot hear it and thus cannot bitch about it. the problems you face on a PG sim regarding mature content is when they see things on your property FROM theirs. I hope this makes sense If someone DOES complain bann their butts or put up a access list that isnt public during your event |

I managed to get the venue to let me move the event to a parcel of theirs over the sim border, so this worry has decreased. It really does seem like it depends who handles the abuse report, so I didn't want to risk it.

PG sim is supposed to be PG for audio be it stream or effect, for video strem, objects, images and text. Implicit or explicit, so that means we residents encourage to make mature parties at mature areas.
Even doing mature parties at mature areas yo will have some complaints, now imagine the problem doing it at PG areas. Now if your are in a private place and you warn your guests about the possible low-level words, then it is up to them to decide. public area is no-no. _____________________

if someone CAN female-dog, they will. Better to be safe and avoid AR reports.
