I have a friend who is just starting up an Island Estate sim which just came online last Thursday. She can TP to the island herself, but no one else can TP there. I have heard rumors that it may take a week or so before the island becomes public but she is also supposed to be able to permit some people to enter the island through some preferences option on the sim? She tells me she has done this, but no one other than her can enter the sim. Does this make sense? Is there some rule the Lindens have to prevent the sim from being accessed by the public for a certain time period?

PS: My friend is a very smart young woman (she builds stuff in SL and she knows more about many things in SL than I do). But she does not speak English. She only speaks (LOL) Bulgarian, Spanish, Russian and Greek. We communicate in Spanish through translators. Sometimes it is not easy understanding each other, but for the most part we can communicate. I only say all this because my knowledge of Spanish is not the best and there could be some info lost in our communications. So does this make sense? Has anyone seen this before? It's bad enough that the Lindens don't offer us residents support, but what about the people who pay them big bucks to startup some new Island Estate servers? Do they not get support from the Lindens as well?

Sounds to me like she may have already ticked the option on the "About Land" Access tab, but may not have set the estate options to allow others in. If one and not the other is ticked then that's where the problem may be coming from.

Have her go to World > Region/Estate... While on her island.

Which will bring up the estate settings menu. Then have her go to the Estate tab.

On that tab she can either enter in the residents names that she wants to allow while keeping the sim closed while she sets it up.

OR she can check to allow public access. If she allows public access, meaning everyone, she'll have to go back to the regular About Land Access tab and make sure nothing is checked.

However if she's keeping it private, the About Land access tab with allowed avatars, along with allowed avatars in Estate need to match to let anyone in.

Thanks you Memnoch. I am not sure exactly what she has done, but it is very possible that what you have explained is what has gone wrong. I will do my best to pass on (which means translating from English to Spanish) what was written here. :)

If I recall correctly, when then Lindens deliver a brand new island/estate, it is set to only allow the owner onto the island. They need to either click the flag for public access, or add your name to the Estate Access list.

What she said. I had the same issue when my island came online.

Yeah your friend might be getting a little bit excited. If she checks the web page link that has been emailed to her it will tell her when it's completed. The owner and Lindens can TP there before completion but nobody else.

Thanks for the 411 folks. As I said my friend (who is a smart girl) does not speak English and there maybe some language confusion. I will try and pass the info on to her when I get a chance. :)
