I find that whenever I try to help new residents in-world, they will often message me for days after with a barrage of questions until I'm forced to strangle them. This can often lead me to play dumb or antisocial.

When in-world, do you fear being helpful because you're afraid that people wont stop messaging you with questions?.

ps. Me know nothing. Me no speak english.

Why not just tell them that you helped them because they were new, and they have to start figuring stuff out on their own now? No need to play dumb. Why not just tell people the truth?

I fear being helpful because I'm a nublet and I'm sure someone far more knowledgable than I will be more useful.

No, seriously, I don't mind helping people. Repeat questions have never been much of a problem for me.

What you should do is answer their questions accurately, but in a confusing and over-technical manner. Eventually they'll get bored and look for someone with simpler answers.

It doesn't bother me at all. I've only had maybe two "pests" who have lingered with questions for more than a week or so. After a couple weeks without contact (which is the usual once the newbie gets his/her feet wet) I IM them and tell them I'm removing them from my friends and that I hope they are having a good time in the world.....to which I always get a big thank you. And that always makes me feel good. :)

It rarely seems that simple for me. They seem to behave like a girlfriend that is being dumped. :(

So dramatic!

Excellent. A very simple and straight forward solution.
