My contest wizard died on me after only 3 days and the creators hasn't answered a single one of the dozens of IM's and notecards I've been sent him.
Does anyone know what I can do? Here's the problem....... it's not responding to any commands. I can't even click on it.
The error I get when I rez it is: Contest Wizard: Script run-time error Contest Wizard: Stack-Heap Collision
please help me.

Does it give you the option to reset or recompile the scripts? If you've never done this, you right-click on the object but don't choose anything from the pie menu. Go to the Tools menu at the top of your screen, then look towards the bottom of the menu and see if 'Recompile Scripts in Selection' or 'Reset Scripts in Selection' are available. If so, try the reset first, then recompile if that doesn't help.

You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.
Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Count yourself lucky. The "Contest Wizards" I've seen are laggy as all heck.
Makes more sense to just send votes to the host, imo. Less visible, but everyone likes less lag. Esspecially at events.
However, it it's Mod you can Reset scripts by going into Edit mode on the object, then Using the "Reset Scripts in Slection" from the Tool menu.
If NoMod, you can't. LL purposefully "broke" that aspect due to a permissions bug some time ago, and they have never "fixed" it.

I think it was quite deliberate. Scripters needed a way to prevent scripts being freely reset. Up until that point scripters were stuck having to make scripts where the scripts had to be started in a particular way that only the scripter knew, and if they weren't (because they were reset), destroyed the object. Needless to say, there were accidental destructions.

From: AWM Mars Just a note, if the scripts are no mod, then neither of these functions will be available. Just FYI, I think it's actually the *prim's* permissions--not the script's--that control whether the script can be reset. I realize that means the scripter can't control whether or not the script is reset, except in a prim the scripter has built, but... I think that's how it works. (I also think it's a fairly bad idea in the first place, except as a hack to get around an old exploit. AFAIK, a script that isn't safe for an owner to reset is a script that needs some rework.)

It's not so much a question of safe as undesirable. It would be awkward, if I couldn't give you a 7-day free trial of my latest gadget because after the 7 days were up you could just reset the script. (Yes, I know there are other ways of doing this that don't encounter this problem, but those have issues too.)

From: someone The "Contest Wizards" I've seen are laggy as all heck. I am biased, but how about a non-laggy alternative? http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=186732Least lag, just one prim per, no stack heap errors, not over-priced...

You can open no-mod scripts and press the reset button. Or just go to the tools menu while editing and click "reset all scripts in selection" or "recompile all scripts in selection." It is the script's permissions that control whether or not you can modify it. And it must be both mod and copy for you to view the source code.
