There is a certain land bot (who shall not be named) and this "wizard" of wickedness is taking all mistakes made when people set their land to "anyone" too cheaply and IS NOT GIVING THE LAND BACK NO MATTER WHAT. So until LL resolves this issue and does something to stop this maniacal "magician", please take your time when setting land. Read this sticky thread for more details as to how to transfer or sell land: /327/3d/174599/1.html

Secondlife cavemen had these problems. But for the untainted newbie who has yet to be screwed over by a scumbag, valid information.

strange that bots get the same amount of animosity on the forums that real users get, too bad we cant mention names of the bots freely. Looking at it from a futurist point of view LL is pioneering AI rights, WAY TO GO!!!!

The is no way Bots deserve to be residents on a par with regular account holders.

Bots aren't people. They aren't characters. They are software applications used by people, which happen to connect to the grid. They do not qualify under the "naming names" provision of the Community Standards. The preceding has been the opinion of me. The real blame rests on the Landbaron behind the bot. This human with less heart than an AI being has the gall to relist his stolen plots under his name. You don't have to be Merlin to figure out who this thief is.

Sys Slade made a good point on another simillar thread. Sys said that there's only so far you can go to make a system foolproof as "fools are wonderfully inventive".
Blame has to rest with the seller. Slow down when selling land is good advice - not just "until LL sort it out", slowing down and doing things properly WILL sort it out, and is the only viable solution.
Personally, I have never swooped on someone's land as I have neither the time nor the patience to sit there all day looking at search tools. However, if I happened to spot a piece of land for sale at that price, I'd have it in a second and sell it on without a second thought.
Put it this way, if you're in a supermarket and you see goods that you like for sale at a knock down rate, what's your reaction? is it "Wahey, best stock up while it's cheap!" or is it "I'll just wait until the price goes back up, as I don't think that the current price is fair to the seller" ?

Until Linden Labs has real dispute resolution, creates appropriate safeguards, fixes bugs, and cleans up the lag (a great contributor to causing "human error" , here is my advice: Don't spend any money that you don't want to lose into a black hole.

there is no 'dispute' to resolve. you choose to sell it for cheap, it will get purchased, quickly
stop being a crybaby
and dont make mistakes!!!!

It would be best if Linden Labs moves up the "sell to user" option above the "sell now" button in the future so users wouldn't inadvertently set the parcel of land for sale to anyone when they actually intended to transfer ownership of the plot to a specific person or group. Until that happens, it'd be best to direct newbies to the " Step by Step: How to Transfer Land" sticky thread and make sure you double check everything in that "Sell Land" dialogue box before following through with the action.
