I’m having a problem with the search options. I try to search under the two keywords “clothes” and “clothing” which are the two main ones I need. Under the “all” tab nothing on my shop shows up. Not one of the 17 classified ads i have now, nor my find listing shows up under the all tab using those two words. my business is dying. sales are down, traffic is down i’ve filed more than one bug report on it and found now answers. today dnate from live help discovered that if you put a space after the word clothes, it showed up on the all tab search. however its now reverted and that doesn’t even work. i even named my listing for my land as “clothes” and it still wouldn’t show up. I tried listing the description as clothes clothing clothes clothing etc etc. nope. it lists approximately 227 places with no “next page” option to go to. can this please be looked into? this is my only income and its gown down to next to nothing from a fairly decent monthly income. i have medications to buy, doctor bills to pay, a car payment to make. and none of that is now possible with things as they are. and just to let you know, yes the mature box is ticked. i've tried it the other way too. no go.

In the new update the checkbox Mature in Search was unchecked by default. So only PG-land and products on PG land show up. If your shop is on Mature land (like Mainland), people won't find it unless they check the checkbox again. That has caused a massive drop in sales for many shop owners like myself.

I have noticed the same thing, and it's a completely different issue from the mature checkbox issue - I noticed it well before that recent change, and of course I have the checkbox checked since I purposely sell mature items on mature land. In my case, my Places listing appears under "all" if you search for the right terms but my Classified does not, and several of my competitors' ads (with very similar descriptions and key words) do show up.
I have no real evidence to support it, but I suspect LL is somehow filtering the results of "all" searches in order to reduce the number of results and thereby strain on the database. Unless I missed a blog post somewhere it would be REALLY REALLY GREAT if someone could reveal what exactly is happening there; it seems a bit ridiculous that showing up in "all" is a random crapshoot, or depends on some secret criteria that haven't been documented anywhere. Bad enough Places haven't shown up on the map for months now, and Classifieds got randomly deleted instead of being renewed a few weeks ago. On another note, my testing and that of a few friends indicates that you only need to check the "include mature" box ONE TIME and then the preference is saved across SL sessions. So while perhaps unfortunate for some businesses, I'm not at all sure it's worth all the recent ruckus. Just my opinion. |

Your traffic is more than likely too low.
Only certain land lists. Once the list is full, only some high traffic shops show up. Unfortunate, but thats how it is. That explains why if you have 5 keywords, your shop will show under 3 maybe, but not the other 2. it means the other 2 keywords are used greatly and you didnt make the list. Thing is, the way it works is weird. Only certain parcels will show up too. Nothing is guaranteed. Try sectioning off new parcel and see if it lists. |

If its what i call a "parcel bug" you still won`t list.
It only happens to some parcels. Used to plague me for months til I got my own sim. But like I said..you could also try sectioning off some land and seeing if it lists. This was what I resorted to doing. |

oh live help was baffled too. it would show up if you included a space after the word clothes. so i changed it and put the word free before clothes. and it showed up. but then i searched again a few mins later and it had reverted to not showing up my find listing again. i don't understand what it is that is happening. it is like someone said as if only certain ones are allowed to list and others are filtered out of listing for those two key words under the all tab. but prior to this latest update DKS was always listing on it. now it won't. and really dang upset about it. its killing my business.

There really is no single answer.
Ive been with this over and over with several lindens in the past. They even came to my land to discuss it with me. They even ran 'tests' on the land WITH me. There is no solid answer. Theres no black or white. Its a grey area. If youre on a lucky plot and have high traffic you will list. If not, and you are using a popular keyword (eg clothing) you dont list. There are things you can do to list for a few minutes, but then youre out again. Try dividing a small square out of your plot and listing it.(Doing so may get you in the "pool" of lucky plots) it also helps to have high traffic. I know this sounds odd but its worth a try. |

It simply returns the first 100 results from every category. If you don't show up in the first 100 for classifieds or places, you won't show up under All either.

No no, it really has to do with the Mature checkbox. I sell mainly hammocks, so I have always added keywords that specifically point to my products. Hell, my land even has hammock in its name. Therefore I always showed up in search in pretty high places, at least top ten. In both All and Places with my parcel listing.
But when I do the same search again (no keywords changed etc) with the Mature checkbox off, then my parcel listing doesn't show up at all. Now I've placed a classified with again only hammock-keywords and I got my high place again in the All search (not in Places of course). So my point: Mature checkbox off really makes a difference! And I hate that this happens, just because my innocent shop is on mature Mainland. |

Negative. Then click Next to get the next 100 on either the classifieds or places and try to find those in All, and they're not there. |

I just found the problem, if you search the word "clothing", Sensual Designs is no where to be found.. you search the word "clothing," with the comma as in my classified there it is... looks like I need to make some changes to my wording

Paulo, I don't think anybody is arguing that the mature checkbox setting is not an issue - but this is another issue entirely. There are plenty of other threads for people to complain about the mature checkbox situation, let's not confuse matters by bundling every search-related problem together and claiming it all stems from that one very recent change. |

Anti, I don't want to imply that. I just wanted to say that search results are influenced by the checkbox this week. In my opinion it's not common knowledge yet, and it's important for people to know that.

Search for a keyword in All, Classifieds and Places, and sort the last two by name and compare that to the results you get in All. They're one-for-one identical, other than also including events, land sales, people and groups that match the keyword. I`m getting different things, not the same. Then click Next to get the next 100 on either the classifieds or places and try to find those in All, and they're not there. Yes i know, LAND only lists a certain amount. and if youre LUCKY you get in. if you have, what i call, a buggy parcel, you are out of luck if youre trying to use an insanely popular keyword such as clothing, tattoos, sex.. etc Because for one, you need to have the traffic. And for two, you need to be located on a parcel that likes to list. if youre on a parcel that doesnt like to list, it doesnt matter what your traffic, you will NOT show up with a much-used keyword search. |

I'm getting different results in searching for "clothes" with no comma at the end versus "clothes," with a comma at the end. That seems wrong to me.
The closing comma should be ignored for searching. _____________________

search is literal, complete words- I think anything surrounded by spaces or whatever.
No partial matches, no more than one term unless they show exactly as you typed them into search. _____________________
