Sounds like you havent actually downloaded the software yet.
You dont actually access SL (secondlife) from the website first you need to download the client software and install it. Then log in throught the software not the website.
Have you done this?

Secondlife is a great place so dont give up until you have at least been inside. And dont worry about your credit card details, linden labs (creators of secondlife) can be trusted.

Thanks

Porthos

i am new member here. and i have not been able to log in to the SL since i joined, this is my second attempt, as i joined three days ago and i could never get into see my Character, it crashes instantly, i cancelled my subscription, i have decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and tried again, and basically it crashes as soon as i enter my username and password, gone and crashed..this is not that good. over rated if they cannot deal with the demand.

I cannot Sign in to SL
i have joined this site, but i cannot access SL World, every time i log in the server crashes with in 5 seconds..basically i put in my username - my password and click on connect, then it crashes just before the loading bar has completed - can i have a reason for this please, as this is my second attempt with this site and both times now i have experienced the same situation

I am very close to cancelling my Subscription, as i mailed Suport last week and still have not got no reply, with gives me doubts about the customer care side of things.

One other thing to try: download the First Look viewer. The regular one doesn't run well on my computer, but FirstLook does great.

Keep in mind.. as nice as the Firstlook viewer may be for some.. it is still BETA software. You should definitely TRY to run the official client first.. as many people have reported difficulties interacting with certain vendors and products using the Firstlook viewer.

Porthos,

You need to give us more information if you want help, don't expect people to do everything for you.

Have you checked the system requirements like SuezanneC suggested?

What error message do you get when it crashes, if any?

Are you sure you wouldn't have more fun with a coloring book?

From my observation, the topic creator has actually logged into SL or they wouldn't have said the word "teleport" since we all should know by now that teleporting can only be done in-world. LOL Anyway To help you out, Second Life is curently overpopulated with people so it will be a bit crowded and laggy. Servers will crash from extreme loads caused by this. It wasn't always this bad, but thats what happens with publicity i guess.

As for your other problems i duno how to answer them perfectly. Not sure what prevented you from getting to the shop. Possibly lag? Thats my only guess hehe. It is true that the developers of SL (Linden Lab) do not offer very good support. I've been here almost 3 years so i would know. However there are a abundance of other users who can help you. Basically LL created the viewer and servers for the world, but WE create it's content. So it's all up to us to deal with stuff.
