Hi - me again - back with a question after my helpful (?) tip... I have a house in SL, very nice, stone built, thatched roof, bought from Sullivan Island... anyway, I want to delete one small (teeny, tiny) bit of it. My problem is: once I have unlinked ((ctrl+shift+l), and altered the offending bit, is there a way of re-selecting everything that WAS selected in order to link again? Obviously I cant just do a drag re-select because it would include all the cra... I mean valuable contents in the join! Thanks - I won't bother you all with any more questions - until I think of another Cat x ps - It's a bugger when you've got a skybox at 290 metres and instead of making an item inside it 'phantom' you do it to the whole bloody thing! It comes as quite a shock to find yourself dropping out the bottom! :/

Well since it must be modable to do that what you want to do is select the piece using select individual linked parts (thats on the side of the edit menue on the left side bottom circle)and when you get the one piece unlink it. (i use the tools menu top of the screen pan down to unlink not sure what the shortcut is) the rest will stay linked. oh and it may take a number of tries to select it if you can at all. Only modable stuff is this possible.

Samantha - thanks, that's gonna be useful RacerX - yep - that's exactly what I wanted! Unfortunately you are also right to suspect (as I'm sure you did) that it's NOT modable - sigh... Maybe the maker will pop by and do it for me? I'll ask him... Cat x

Some people sell their stuff (especially houses) no-mod either because they're no-copy and if you broke it they'd never hear the end of it, or else because they're really sniffy about people vandalising "their" creations. I don't agree with that last bit though I've seen "mods" to my houses that made me want to cry, but yeah, it's fun when someone pulls something into pieces and IMs you "hey this thing I bought don't work" The directions to the building forum get my vote. This is as much a plea to passing readers to pleeeaase learn the basics of building before wading in with the unlink menu
