Hi,
I'm looking for a new skin for my male avatar. I've read (and seen) several threads urging people to try on demo skins. Can someone please explain? What's different about a demo skin?

- It is free.
- It has DEMO plastered all over it in big black letters.

Assume that the average skin costs 1000L (yes i know some are cheaper... some are also more expensive). Also assume that most if not all skins are no transfer and the seller will not give you the 1000L back (because you can't return the skin)
Would you rather pay 1000L to try on a skin and decide that you didn't like it after all? Or, would you rather pay 1L for the demo skin.
Myself, i'll go through 2 dozen or more demo skins before i find one i like.

Demo skins are important because unless you have a good shape, the skin that you buy won't look like the picture shown.

Ok, but the real difference between a demo skin and an actual skin is that it's cheaper and it is rendered silly with the text "DEMO" or somesuch?
I didn't realize the bit about the text on it, so I didn't know...

I didn't realize the bit about the text on it, so I didn't know... Yes, basically. It's just so that you can try out the skin before shelling out a large amount of money, or adapt your shape. Shape and skin are very precisely linked so it's easy for a skin to not fit your shape properly ("glitches" on the face are very common because SL's apparantly not so great at morphing the face texture)
