i opened a store at the beginning of this month and was pleasantly surprised to see that it's doing very well and i find myself with some linden surplus.

my question:
if i sell $10USD worth of lindens, will LL take that instead of charging my credit card next month?

thanks

Yep. Sell it off, and it becomes a USD balance in your account. LL will take that money instead of charging your card.

Yassah. It's one of the few things that save me every month! *grin*

Any money that you put into your account will be used against your tier etc.
It'll also be used should you wish to purchase Lindens at some point.

You mean, what if you wanted to have the rest of those US dollars in your real life hands? Then you click the link on the right-hand side on your main account page called "Process Credit." They give you options for cashing the funds entirely out of SL and into your PayPal account, for example.

Usal,

If you have, say USD$ 50 in your account, and you only need to pay Linden Lab, say, $15 of it for monthly fees, you can "process credit" which means that you transfer the remaining $35 to yourself in RL, either through PayPal ($1 charge), check ($15 charge? not sure, check on that) or international check (really expensive.) Best bet is Paypal. It takes a while, like sometimes almost a week, but don't panic... it really does get there eventually. I've found that if I process credit every couple of days, then I can have a revolving door over at Paypal; stuff coming in and out on a regualar basis.

I admit, this is the first time in my life I've ever had a self-supporting hobby/addiction!

Sell it off, and it becomes a USD balance in your account.

Something it took me a few 'sells' to work out - the default rate isn't as good as the Lindex Limit Sell rates. So, if you're not in a hurry to convert the money (if you've a couple of days before tier or premium charges are due), place a limit sell order at 266L$ per US$ - use the "Sell L$" menu option on the left-hand menu of your account page. At 266 you will usually sell within a couple of days (in my experience).

If you don't see the Limit Sell option, amend the "Linden Dollar Exchange Settings" to Advanced from the menu on the right-hand side of your Account page.

Oh - I haven't tried this yet - but I've read that you can get even better rates for converting L$ into RL money (e.g. to PayPal) by selling through SLExchange. But to pay for Tier etc the Lindex is easier IMO ;)
