I neighbour in my region on the Mainland recently abandoned their land. Its not scheduled for auction yet. Does anyone know if LL would sell that parcel to me before it gets scheduled? If so, is there a specific support ticket I have to submit? Or perhaps go through Live Support?

I believe LL will only sell abandoned land to you directly under very specific circumstances

Will Linden Lab sell abandoned land directly to me if my claim on it is good enough?

This can sometimes be tricky, but there are cases in which a Resident may have a pretty good claim to abandoned land. These can include but aren't necessarily limited to:

* The land I own borders three sides of an abandoned parcel.
* The land I own completely encircles an abandoned parcel.
* There is a parcel of abandoned land directly between my land and another Resident's land, but the other Resident has stated that he has no interest in owning the abandoned parcel.
* The land must always be less than 512 square meters.

Remember that these parameters are only guidelines; each parcel is considered on a case-by-case basis, and the Land Team may not sell the land to you even if you meet some of the claims. In many cases, there's no single Resident who has a very strong claim to a particular abandoned parcel, in which case it goes to auction.

Thanks Joshooa, looks like I have no claim to make.

As an aside, if LL had simply made the FAQ enty's title a simple "About Abandoned Land, it would have been easier to find. :-D

The rule is 3 sides, however you might luck out. Some Lindens will do it with less.

Others are really sticklers though .... I was once denied a 16 because I was on 2 sides with the other 2 being Gov Linden and the sim boundary. I waited, resubmitted, and a different Linden actually saw that I was the only neighbor who would actually buy it.

If all else fails, you can petition to have it put into the auction queue.

I did that for Voidicus the other day, and 3 auctions have just cleared today - but at insane prices I was unable to buy into... However at least its not abandoned anymore. More will be up for auction in the coming weeks from what I was told.

I know that's from the FAQ but it's wrong. It should say 512m or less, because they do it up to 512m.

I did not know that.
