I am a complete newbie and just finding my way around. I have noticed that in addition to speech appearing on screen when chatting, some people can put "thoughts" on screen - e.g "ABC smiles and wonders where this conversation is leading". I have looked in help and support files but can't find how to do this. Is it a script or a standard feature I have not found yet? I would appreciate some help on this please.

Type /me before what you want to emote. /me gives Smokey an example.

Thanks for the very quick reponses. I had in fact found the /me aproach, but this formats the messge with my name in front, e.g. "Smokey Recreant thinks". What I have seen does not have the thinker's name and can be used for general comments as well, e.g. "The crowd are stunned by this". Am I making sense? Trouble is that I don't know the terminology to ask the question properly.

That's just a chat repeater script in a prim with a blank name. I wrote a small script that will turn the prim it is in invisible, set the name to a null string and then repeat whatever the owner says without the name in front of it. If you send me an IM in world, I can send you a copy of it (if they ever get the grid fixed that is).
