Hi, I have a curious problem with some gestures. I deleted some of my gestures at some point and obviously forgot to deactivate them first. Now those gestures are gone from my inventory (including trash), but they are still there. They are still working, and when I open Ctrl-G, they appear in the list, although instead of the name only "Loading..." appears, and I can't edit them. Also, I get error messages saying "Gesture is missing from database" every time I log on (only 2 of these, funnily enough, although this concerns more than 2 gestures). Any ideas on how I can get rid of these ghost gestures?

Any ideas on how I can get rid of these ghost gestures? I'm curious about that too. I can't use *any* custom Gestures, and haven't been able to for months. Around the same time my custom Gestures became inactive I started to get this error (about 10 consecutive error messages in my case)...so I deleted every custom Gesture that I could find. I still get about 5 of these error messages. I sent a message to support about it a few months ago..doubt I'll get a resolution from them this time either if I opened a new ticket. This seems to be a fairly common problem. Has anybody found a way to at least get rid of the error message "Gesture Not Found In Database", upon logging in? _____________________

I don't know if this will help, but if they're standard gestures, did you check the status of the ones in your Library folder? Or try copying them to main inventory, activate them and see if they work, then deactivate and delete? That would probably be what my programmer brother refers to as 'computer voodoo,' but it might remind the system to stop looking for them when you log in. Maybe? lol

Whenever I see somebody else using custom Gestures it makes me want to put my fist through the monitor, lol _____________________

This seems to be a fairly common problem. Has anybody found a way to at least get rid of the error message "Gesture Not Found In Database", upon logging in? I get the same thing. On all accounts. For instance, one of my alts only has three gestures now, because I deleted everything that I didn't think was *absolutely essential*, and I *still* get "Gesture is missing from database" messages. And, to top it off, I simply CANNOT create new gestures! They will last for one session, but the next time I log on I will get the "Gesture is missing from database" error (there is another similar one sometimes), and the previously new gesture will be gone. I can't believe this made it through QA. I do occasionally wonder if any of the Lindens that are in QA actually *use* SecondLife. . |

Has anybody found a way to at least get rid of the error message "Gesture Not Found In Database", upon logging in? Yes. http://forums.secondlife.com/showthread.php?t=177758 ![]() But unfortunately that wouldn't help with this new wrinkle of a deleted gesture, because you can't re-activate it if you can't access it... ![]() _____________________

Doesn't have many votes...might get more attention if it did. _____________________

Create a new gesture with the same trigger as the old one (you can get that from the drop down at the bottom right of the screen).
SL will pop up a message stating that it replaced an active gesture with a new one since they both have the same trigger (I don't remember the exact phrasing ![]() At that point you can just deactivate the new gesture and delete it and it'll be gone from the drop down as well. Rinse and repeat (you can just change the trigger, you don't have to delete and a create a new one each time) until they're all gone ![]() |

I did that, "recreated dead gestures of my own making" they lasted like 2 days and then THEY went missing. I now have 6 gestures "Missing from database" and NONE of them had I deleted, they just start dying one by one as you activate them and have them running for a few days.
Pretty much given up on yet another dead feature of SL till some miracle happens and they get fixed in the future. |
