I bought an island from another member on 4/16/2007 and we both submitted the requested information to the Second Life Conceirge the same day.
I've been calling SL Conceirge daily for OVER A WEEK and still nothing has been done! Linden Labs still wants monthly support fees but neither I or the seller can use what they're charging us fees for.
Since monday 4/23 they've been telling me it's been way too long and I should be really upset if it's not done by tonite, but offering me no avenues of recourse. I'm told I'm very near the top of the list and there's no reason why is shouldn't be done AND I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT FOR GOING ON TWO WEEKS.
What can I do? I've got nearly 2000 dollars hanging out there and nobody with Linden Labs is devoting a shred of support time to me.
Have I made a mistake investing this kind of money into SecondLife?
Is my experience typical?
Whats going to happen with me if there are problems with the island when Im depending on it for an income?
I'm so disenchanted with SecondLife right now. I can't believe this. I really can't believe this.
Edit:
One more thing after thinking about this for awhile. If the person or persons on the conceirge team responsible for letting a transaction this large sit around their desk for nearly two weeks is reading this: You should be ashamed of yourself for letting down the other members of your department and cashing a paycheck. Gather your team members into a conference room and apologize for treating a customer like this. Thank your supervisor for not terminating you. But, before you do it. Take the FIVE MINUTES REQUIRED TO PUSH THE FEW BUTTONS NECESSARY TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND FIX IT.

Hi Fatz,
Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately it's become a standard in Second Life. Waiting 2 weeks for an island transfer is ridiculous in my eyes. I asume you have made a deal that is also calculated on tier date. They should transfer the island within 2 days after both parties confirmed the transfer. Good luck with it.

Hay Hay. Sorry to hear you're going through this Fatz. It really is unacceptable that LL can't get their act together to provide the island that you're already paying for.
But then again, LL can't really get their act together about anything. -_-
Still, I hope they'll get offa their bums and DO something about it! >_<

I just checked with the RL Better Business Bureau for LL. I can't say what I found because that would be like "naming names".
The customers are having problems because the company does not have a proper support system in place. And by customers, I mean people who pay for the service.

Your results are unfortunately becoming typical. Ive bought 5 islands from various people , and the first 3 transfers, were great. 2 days max. The one before this one took well over a week. This last one, almost the same length of time. I sent a notecard to Jack Linden about this stuff, and the seemingly total lack of concern on the part of the concierge team for people paying these prices for islands, and their not transferring them in what would be considered a timely manner. I have yet to get any sort of reply. Now, all concierge are not created equal. My experiences with Harmony Linden have been totally excellent. She does what she says she will do, and does it very well. Some of them seem to have a better handle on what it means to be a customer than the others do. Good luck. Let us know when this gets resolved I'm curious to see when it actually gets done vs. the day you guys sent your emails to them

I have found that connecting with a real person over the phone can really expedite these problems. The concierge team gets flooded with emails but if you can get through to them on the phone, they can usually help you right away if they have all the necessary info/documentation. I spoke with Harmony Linden and she was very helpful, she took care of a move request in 2 minutes over the phone.

Lately concierge is pretty fast

It used to be close to 14 calendar days to deliver an island, but now *bam* in about 2 or 3 calendar days they have it ready for you. Harmony Linden seems to be the island supplier person, and she is one of the best Lindens, along with Cyn Linden.
It mystifies me why people get such varied responses from support and concierge.

This is, unfortunately, becoming par for the course with LL.
Fatz has been remarkably patient through all of this; LL has, once again, used up the goodwill of someone who has been nothing but supportive of them.

This is something that bothers me...

If you assume (not always true) that situation A and situation B are equally difficult and time consuming, then they should deserve the same priority treatment. Also, if they are not doing a triage type system, then it needs to be in chronological order, first come first serve.
Island transfers, provided that both parties have done their part and paid the fee, should be real damn simple. I've done it and it's a no brainer. Just reprogram a sim to the other person and boom it's done. *shakes head*

Less than 8 hours after posting this thread--I received an email from SL Conceirge confirming the transfer was completed.
I'm happy it's done, but I still can't believe it. We bring fully loaded servers online at work--and I'm talking out of the cardboard box, imaged, racked and in production in less than 60 minutes and that's on a network supporting 20,000 concurrent users. Setting up a brand new customer to use that network takes maybe 30 minutes if they electronicallly sign forms.
I scrolled back up and saw Rockwell Ginsburgs' post about handling a request like this in 2 minutes while he waited on the phone. That makes me feel real good about paying support fees now.
Thanks Linden Lab, for making me wait nearly two weeks and making the matter public before you do two minutes worth of work. Next time I'll ask to hold while you do it.
thanks,
fatz

I'm glad you got your island. I'm just surprised that you didn't expect such a situation going into it.
I'm not putting $2000+ into SL until I can buy the damn server myself and plug it in at home!
