I have recently opened a shop with Shapes, Skins Fashion etc. I have paid the Robbery Rate to have my shop listed in Classified, The problem is when I search under "All" it does not come up anywhere unless I type the name of my shop! None of the key words will bring it up in the listings when I search "all". Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Why doesn't my shop show in the listings if I type key words like Fashion, Clothing, Shapes etc? Any help would be appreciated!

Search is pretty particular in what words you look up. You can't look up "shoe" expecting that you'll be able to find "shoes" or "snow-shoes" or any variation thereof. For my shop I have a list of keywords after my description so someone looking for something my shop offers would be more likely to have it come up if they looked up "anime" or "mech" or whatever.
I'm not sure how well the "All" section works. I don't ever use it because I don't want to find everything that has a word I'm looking for in it's group name/av name/classified ad/etc. I just want locations. _____________________

The ALL search is totally screwed up. It will dispaly only a small fraction of the returns you will get using the same search words under classifieds or places. LL should fix this as it is doing a great disservice to anyone paying for an ad.

LL should fix this as it is doing a great disservice to anyone paying for an ad. All doesn't mean "search all results", it just means "search all categories" so it's working exactly as it should. As an aside, I don't really see much of a use for having All in the first place. It's rather wasteful on database queries, heavily gamed and the same information can be retrieved using the individual categories. |

All returns the composite of Classifieds, Events, Land Sales, Places, People and Groups. Each category separate only returns the first 100 results so why would you expect that the union would somehow return everything? QUOTE] I searched Skins under "ALL" and it returned 321 found, guess your theory of only returning the first 100 is shot to hell! |

It's rather wasteful on database queries, heavily gamed and the same information can be retrieved using the individual categories. The other search categories return many, many more than 100 results - they are just displayed 100 per page. "All" lacks the 'next' and 'prev' buttons that would make it marginally useful. So no, it's not working exactly as it should. edit: beaten, must remember to preview again after getting up for more coffee. |

Since most people in game assume that all will return "all" of the results that match the search words it is doing a great disservice to anyone who pays for an ad and their ad is not displayed. ALL is naturally assumesd to mean just what it says, ALL, not a part of ALL which should be either labeld "SOME" or by the catagory it falls under. No where on the ALL search page does it say that it will only return a small subset of the information searched for. This behavior has to be fixed or the ALL search tab should be eliminated.

I searched Skins under "ALL" and it returned 321 found, guess your theory of only returning the first 100 is shot to hell! The *union* of all those searches together is: # classifieds + # events + # land sales + etc with a maximum of 600 results for All (actually 606 if LL didn't fix the bug with the 101st result tending to show up in All as well yet). http://cs.uni.edu/~campbell/stat/venn.html has a diagram if you have difficulty understanding what union means. No where on the ALL search page does it say that it will only return a small subset of the information searched for. Having All literally return every last entry would make it rather useless as well, and would only encourage more gaming (All sorts alphabetically, so someone's L$50 classifieds can easily show higher than your L$10k one). You could start a JIRA feature proposal to add a previous and next button, but that wouldn't really change anything about the fact that you won't show up in the very first page. (Sorry for the extensive editing after posting if someone read it before now ![]() |

Having All literally return every last entry would make it rather useless as well, and would only encourage more gaming (All sorts alphabetically, so someone's L$50 classifieds can easily show higher than your L$10k one). This is already happening as it is now. And many who are paying for ads are never being seen because most p[eople assume that ALL will display all the search results that match their search words. I know this because I have recently had a number of people tell me they can not find me in search and that they only ever search under ALL. This behavior is confusing and is huyrting the business of many content creators and vendors in SL. It must either be fixed or the ALL tab should be removed completely. _____________________

I don't know anyone who would use the "All" search. People searching for a product usually check the classifieds, people looking for a club check either classifieds or places.
