Before I spend anymore time trying to get search to find what I'm looking for, I thought I would ask here; please bear with me.

Are snags, hiccups, slow dooooowwwwwwnnnnnnssssss, and crashing regular, normal?
Is there a map of work stations, jobs?
Can I set my time out to a much longer duration?
Is uploading textures as simple as paying the L$10 and uploading them to the right folder in the right format and size?
Is uploading objects as easy? And what format should they be in? Are their rules about the same as poser porps; as far as orientation,?
Is it possible to download an objects template to work on textures?
Do I get a tax break for farmland?
What is there the most demand for in the market place?
Are there any loft apartments for rent in Transylvania?
Is there some storage place I can dump, but not lose the ton of stuff in my inventory? I like to travel light.
And is there any place on this world for some one that is quite, some what anti-social, and crabby most of the time? I'm not much of a joiner.

-You can adjust it somewhat in Preferences or buy an anti-idler for longer duration. If you want it for camping, forget I said anything.

There is no such thing as farmland in Second Life.



That can change every week.



As Transylvania is a private island, you'll need to ask the owners. You can see who the owners are by visiting the island, selecting World -> Region/Estate, then selecting the Covenant tab.



You can buy land and create a house, or buy various storage gadgets. However there is no concept of encumbrance limiting you in Second Life so there is no need to drop things from your inventory. Many Second Life users have inventories with tens of thousands of items.

hey, I gave the answer...the question is up to you to figure out.

"They must be built in Second Life using the Build button tools." And how different is that from actual modeling?
Camping? Is that like sitting around and getting payed to watch porn? When I'm mopping, sweeping, gardening and such, that isn't really camping is it.
How do I find out my "speeds"? I need a tach on my dash. I'm on DSL but that seems to slow for streaming video.
Hmmm, back to the $? $10 a month is out, there are a few months out of the year I just don't have it.
What about uploading and changing animations? Walking, sitting and such, or looping existing animations?

If you don't actually have to be at the computer to do anything once you've gotten started and you're getting paid for whatever it is, then it's camping.

Depends on what you're used to. If you're used to a program like Maya, it's much simpler to build in SL, but also much more limited. It IS, however, possible to build an object in a 3D modeling program (like Maya or Blender) that supports NURBS and upload the sculptmap to Second Life.



The term "camping" generically refers to any non-productive activity in Second Life used by merchants and club owners to generate traffic by paying unwitting residents as much as a whopping 8 cents (USD) an hour to do things like sit in chair, mopping, sweeping, washing windows and so forth.



There are several internet bandwidth speed sites on the web you can use to determine your actual connection speed. I use CNet's (http://reviews.cnet.com/7004-7254_7-0.html).



Animations are made using a program like Poser (there are others) and uploading them to your inventory, much like you upload textures, sculptmaps, and sounds.

And, to extend your idle time without going AFK, you can change the preference a bit on the preferences window (EDIT>PREFERENCES), but iirc the maximum idle time is 10 minutes. If you want more idle time than that, you'll need to use the Debug Menu to do so. While I'm loathe to tell you how to do it, I'm pointing that out so that you don't waste your money on an anti-idler.

I'm busy off and on with a bunh of odds and ends. If I'm going to go do something else for a bit then come back, or I'm up to something else on the comp; modeling, making textures, animating or rendering; well maybe not animating or rendering.
What format are the animations in? BVH hopefully. I have all the right tools; and then some, plus the base figures and texture templates, so I'm ready to role. May try my first one shortly, just a simple test skin.
Oh, I assume I could contact the original artist of an item if I need the texture template. I really want to do something with those free wings.

Oh, camping is where I am getting the L$ to do the uploads. Yes, I could sell stuff, but I'm not there yet. Going to check the classified though. I've got better things to do then camp

I'm never up to just one thing. My Carrara render is about ready for a final; about a 16 hour render. As well as working on 2 other scenes. Working on a skin for here; photo real, the face came out nice. Wandering around money island; zzzzzzzzzzzzzz, and reading the forums.
So my questions knida come in flurries.

*whew*! 16 HOURS...well can't wait ta see the finished product (Yeah, I can be onna those "chronic multitaskers" too, heh)

I like texturing these figure, a breeze compared to Poser.

Is it possible to get sun burn on the beach? I swear my avatar's skin is redder.
Why do some of the avatars; residents, have red lettered name tags with odd info?
How do I wake my avatar up? Been more then once I have walked off to do something and my avitar says "away" and I can't wake it back up.
Are bump maps worth the effort?

Now the textures I uploaded yesterday are gone.

I know the latest hot topic is about blanket terms and throwing out the baby with the bath water, none the less I still would like some answers to my questions.
