Can upgrade to premium using my US$ balance?

The question is if i can upgrade using My US$ blance without charging my credit card.
The second life site seems a little contradictory about this question.
On a page it says:

Using Your US$ Balance to Pay Premium Upgrade Fees

Any credit on your US$ account balance will automatically be applied to premium upgrade fees.

On the "Upgrade/Downgrade your Membership" page it says both:

NOTE: If you choose to upgrade to a Premium membership your credit card will be charged immediately for the full amount of the subscription plan specified.

and:

ยค If you choose to upgrade to a Premium membership you will be charged immediately for the full amount of the subscription plan specified. The amount due will be deducted from your credit card or the US$ balance on your account.

I'm confused.....

Your USD balance will be used first. If your USD balance runs out, the remainder will be charged to your card.

This was my understanding... but then why that note with the word "immediately" in boldface?

NOTE: If you choose to upgrade to a Premium membership your credit card will be charged *immediately* for the full amount of the subscription plan specified.

(It's on the page. https://secure-web10.secondlife.com/account/membership.php, but maybe that page is different for premium users)

Not too sure, although I can confirm that my credit card has not been charged for the month of February granted I had a sufficient USD balance to cover it.

Perhaps because it's being done online, and thus will only take their system a few minutes to process the info? Meaning if you use a prepaid Credit Card (or even a regular one) and are unsure of the balance, you should perhaps go check before purchasing the plan lest you be charged with exceeding your credit limit.

Sounds like the copy could be phrased better, but I think the word "immediately" is emphasized so people aren't surprised.. some might expect the charge to occur at their next regular billing date..

Any time there is a billing event, it will use your cash balance first, then go after your credit card for the balance, if there is one. This would include upgrading to premium.
