newb question re object default icons

So after several days of stuffing my inventory full of freebies, I am finally cleaning it out and thoroughly organizing. In sorting my loot, I realize some items have the "wrong" default icon. I grabbed all undershirts and threw them into their own folder but now find some are really shoes, or gloves, etc.

I cannot figure out if it is possible to "edit" the item so that it has the CORRECT default icon for the slot/type of item -- shoes for shoes, jackets for jackets etc. Nothing in the item properties that I can see, that allows me to do it.

Can it be done? How?

from my understanding, these are from older versions of SL, and they never had separate icons, I could be wrong though as I am not that much of an oldie (only little over a year)

as for being able to edit that, hmmm maybe if they have mod rights, make a slight change then save as a new name... never tried that, just a suggestion.

I just tried that, it opens in the correct slot for editing, but on making a slight change and SAVE AS, it still keeps the older incorrect icon =(
