Hi everyone, Sent several emails for help to tech support but no answer after 3 days. Did the phone thing, and the time they allow for me to give information is way too short, and can't give them all the information they ask for. Sigh. I have a Avatar, but is very popular. My wife wants to join SL so we can play together, but I want to create a second Avatar so we can play without being bombarded by friends. I am told i can do it for a 1 time fee of $9.95, but when I make a new one it always says I already have a Avatar. Now I can see why people make illegitimate Avatars. Can't even do it the right way. It seems to me. Can anyone tell me what I am not understanding? Thanks Much!! Lance Whippet

Use a phoney Yahoo E-mail that you have access to.

It looks like the alt creation is seriously borked. I checked the Terms Of Service and it clearly says there is no limit now on the number of alternate accounts, but so many people just cannot do it 'the right way'. I wouldn't have said 'phoney' email account ... just another one

Yahoo's spam blocker is overzealous, it may just have gobbled up the confirmation mail. Go to gmail.google.com and get a gmail address instead. Why would anyone ever use yahoo mail in this day and age anyway Gmail is the way to go!

The system makes a crude check between CC details, email addresses etc to see if you already have an account/avatar, if you have or have not, it will only allow a certain number per day to be made. I tried making a couple of alts using the same email account, and it politely said, you have reached you limit for now, please try later.

Yes I did.... purely for handling L$ exchanges between our group members to keep accounting transactions for the TAX man. I even managed to make 3 once.... but for a difference reason.

Thanks much to all the replys. I could not even get one alt. I will try your suggestion. It is a shame I can not do it legit! "Thanks much to all the replys. I could not even get one alt. I will try your suggestion. It is a shame I can not do it legit!" Creating an alt with a different email account IS perfectly "legit." The option to pay $10 for an alt seems to have been a vistigual organ left over from another era. I also like to think it was an IQ test.

The process seems to have some erratic glitches. I can tell you that the $9.95 one-time fee for alt creation is no longer being collected, even if you give accurate details. There is no way to provide billing info at the time of account creation, unless you elect to go Premium. And if you add the billing info after creation via the website, it notes you as "Payment info on file" , but doesn't charge you.
It seems that the main requirement is a unique e-mail address for each new alt. It may also be that if your other accounts are all fairly new, say, 6 mounts old or less, you get throttled faster than someone who has been around for over a year. They may also have tighter restrictions on e-mail addresses from sources that can easily generate lots of free addresses.
My best advice is, wait a few days, and try again with a fresh e-mail address.
By the way, if you started an account sign-up, and it reserved the name, but for any reason you were unable to complete the registration process, you CAN contact Support, and they can get you a link that will allow you to resume the interrupted process. I did that once with one of my alts. Lost power partway through sign-up. Called Support, and they sent me the link needed to proceed from where I left off.

I lost the BEST name a while back when the system kept hanging and I finally gave up.
