what happens if a SL to PayPal transfer is REFUSED?

I was wondering if anyone knew what happens if a US$ transfer from LL/SL to a PayPal account is REFUSED on the PayPal side?

It's an odd situation. I managed to initiate a transfer (which will likely take a week or two) from my own SL account to my own PayPal account, which will inadvertently put me over the maximum allowed for a PayPal personal account. I really do NOT want to be forced to upgrade to a Premium / Business account, because I don't foresee much further business.

So, I think an option would be to refuse to accept the payment on the PayPal side, to avoid the forced upgrade.

But... LL being the way it is... am I going to have a massive problem trying to get the US$ back into my LL/SL account? I've already sent an email to LL explaining the situation, but don't really expect a response for months.

Anybody know? thanks.

Why not? Is there a fee? I was automatically upgraded a while ago, and I haven't noticed any fee.

From their page: https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-fees

Receive payments funded by PayPal Balance, PayPal Instant Transfer or PayPal eCheck:
- Personal account: Free
- Premium / business account: 1.9% to 2.9% + $0.30 USD

Not sure if this is the type of transaction that LL US$ to PayPal is, but paying a 2.9% fee over and above LL's 3.5% transfer fee is kind of painful.

If the payment can't be processed, it should just bounce back to your SL account. But for going over your limit, I think that LL uses masspay so I don't think it will put you over your limit. If it does, maybe a second account that is upgraded is order?

Why not just cancel the balance transfer request?

Or perhaps withdraw some money out of Paypal prior to the deposit hitting?

I must be missing something.

I tried -- no option to cancel a "Process Credit" once done. I've emailed LL support to request that they cancel the transfer, but we all know how rapid emailing support can be; probably even slower than the process credit ;)

I don't think withdrawing from PayPal changes what they keep track of, for amount deposited.

This is promising. We'll see.

As to a second account -- yes, that could be done, but PayPal requires unique CC, bank account, etc. for a second account. A big pain, lol.

Ah well -- it's not THAT big a deal. It just annoys me, that I botched and didn't notice the "limit", and now can't figure out a way to simply cancel the process.

Apparently not, since as I said I've not been hit with any fees. I have noticed fees when other people were using their credit card to send me money, but I rarely use PayPal for any purpose other than receiving money from LL.

:\ was a lil' worried myself once i saw your message - i had made my first attempt to move more than $500 from sl to paypal, and still on a personal account. however, funny enough - sl completed the transaction to paypal this afternoon.

you may actually have encountered another paypal prob i seem to remember seeing here in forum a few weeks back... paypal had some sort of policy/tos change, and you may need to log into your account there and re-push the 'ok' button on the 'YOU MUST READ AND AGREE TO ALL OF THE FOLLOWING' blahblahblah stuff (where to find that, i don't know... but this is my best recollection of the prob).

i think the limits pertain to withdrawing amounts from paypal, and not a limit on how much is being deposited. and
as far as the premium/biz account fees, those extra fees don't appear to apply to the ol' fashioned verified bank account transfer - that appears to still be free.

i'm still a lil' new to all this myself, so dunno if this is all truly correct info or not - take with 2 tbs. of salt:)

Payments from Linden Lab haven't ever affected my (bank acount UK verified personal) PayPal payment allowance.

Is it because they're a verified business themselves and it's considered a refund type of arrangement?

LL use paypal's "masspay" system to send you the money, which means the transfer doesn't incur the extra charge.

Sounds like I'll be able to happily stay in my "small time" Personal status.

Thanks all, for the responses.
