Just a few days left for the mainlanders to place their mark here to bid farewell to the forums. Try to post a image of your mainland, slurl and the year you became an mainlander.

Since 2005.

It's nice to be around to witness the mainland last longer than the forums:-) Bye-bye.

I don't have much luck posting images on here but.....................

I've had the Egotherapy Centre in Yosu region since 2006. It's been rebuilt a few times.
I intend to keep the current one as it it - it replaced a building that was destroyed in a deletion accident in 2007.

Not sure why us mainlanders are special but any excuse ...

Fearzum, since spring 2009. Behind the wooden fence on the left there's a Domino's AND a Pizza Hut

and ...

Jessie since summer 2009. Mine's the little sunken parcel with the bloomers flag.

I also have a 512 on Mooaleo, which I've had since mid-2007 but there's not much there worth photographing.

I've had two pieces of land since I rezzed. This, is the one I've been at the longest and where I currently live with Ghosty. It includes his art gallery as well. This photo isn't representative of it's current state since Ghosty worked on it after I took this photo a few months ago. We have over 12,000 square meters, and there is also a skybox which houses his little store too. I've owned this land since, oh let me think, for about 1-1/2 years or so but kept adding to it little by little. On Linden water, very low lag, no neighbors to speak off, gorgeous open views. I'll be hard pressed to ever give it up although I toy with the idea now and then.

I have no pictures, but startet in late 2006 at Blackmount (512) on the South-Continent, moved then over when the East-Continent startet and bought Meliodas piece by piece until I had the full sim plus a quarter of Lohengrin and half Morgause, sold Meliodas and abandoned the others along the Zindra discussion, moved for a short time to Witch Hazel, then a short time to a PG Waterfront (name forgotten), then a short time into the hills on the old North-Continent (name forgotten) and being actually on Shrikhande on the upper east part of the eastern Continent.

It seems, I am a mainland nomad, testing all sizes and landscapes. :D

I've lived here in Badger for about a year and a half. This little parcel is sandwiched between protected water and protected road. There's five full sims of open water for sailing. I wouldn't swap it for anything.

okay I can't make the image tags work- anyone help?

I typed:
(img).....(/img)
except with square brackets, and the image url inbetween in place of the dots. No spaces. No quotemarks. What did I do wrong?

My leetle garden in Fushida on - I forget which continent. Nautilus? The one just south of Nautilus.

I also have a nice plot on the old continent I'm rather proud of, as if that somehow has prestige. But right now it has been cleared for a new project.

We seem to have an affinity for water sims and have lived on them beginning the end of 2007. The first was on Ambrosia, a gorgeous mainland water sim. All of the builds and homes on the sim seemed like a planned community. This is my partner and I touring the sim before deciding to rent there.

Our actual home, regardless of sim, has always been in the sky.

We especially enjoyed the patio at sundown

After about 6 months, our landlord sold his property due to VAT and we found another land rental on yet another water sim - Warbluster. Then I got the land bug and purchased my first 512 on Warbluster, which began my land-buying spree until I eventually owned approximately 5600 sqm. This is a view from the beach part of the land.

We relocated our home to the new land (again in the sky) and I planned to open my shop at ground level. I never followed through with that, but here is the "Dagger Family" at the proposed location:

Due to the pressure of constantly trying to make tier, I sold off all but 512 sqm of land, where I currently live...still on Warbluster.

Hugsy Penguin Skyport:

My skyport in Suisun. Rez your aircraft here and enjoy a flight around the Sansara continent. Skydiving pods and targets are also available. Go to the top of the antenna and experience the Ground Rush!

secondlife://Suisun/169/146/233

Cave, Cannon, and Boat Launch

Located along the north shore of Suisun, this pictures includes first land I've ever owned in Second Life. There's a cave where you can buy cool Mer stuff. A cannon that you can use to shoot yourself over the water. And, a boat launch. Rez your boat on the platform, get in the boat, then click the platform. It will slide out of the way and you'll slide into the water.

It's under the skyport, so you can go to the skyport first, then click the teleporter to go down.

Freebies, Arcade, and Mazes

A place to get some freebies that I and others have made. There's an arcade on the second floor. On the third floor, there's a couple of mazes you can go through.

Vehicle Rez Area in Suisun

A place to rez your vehicle. Then you can drive around and explore the Sansara continent.

secondlife://Suisun/242/93/57

Dirt Track

A dirt track I built. It's located next to the vehicle rez area.

My Home

My personal residence. Includes a boat that I'm still constructing. Actually I may replace it with a new one I started building.

Me

Just a picture of me standing on my boat. I joined Second Life on June 18, 2005. About a month later, I decided I wanted to buy some land. At the time, the "First Land" program was still going on but there wasn't any available. Instead of waiting, I bought a 512m² parcel in Suisun. I still own that parcel plus I acquired about 2/3 of the sim.

LOL...it takes a Beagle to find a new friend. :)

The German Shepherd is Dutch, a VKC dog owned by my partner. This breed was the first VKC dog to be built more photo-realistically, for want of a better term. A notice was sent out this week that a white German is now available as well.

In the background is my Chow, Aiko. She is one of the older style VKC dogs but due to her background story she is the only one of the VKC dogs who can ring a little bell.

Here is a better photo of the two dogs together so you can see the difference in builds:

Both are friendly and would love to meet your acquaintance. :)

This is the Youtube I made of the Towers and Art Gallery that used to be on Land at Daphnis in Happier times. The Gallery is still there, but the city is gone... my partner left second life, and let his land go ... I miss it... and him..

Here's my now-gone land, couldn't afford the $50/month tier any more and had to sell. The house is made entirely of individual sculpty rocks and logs and featured a turning waterwheel.

Under construction:

"Finished" but never truly done, always improving:

Shower, complete with hot water heater and water wheel water pump:

Continued. Looking over these photos has really made me realize how much I miss my land and home *cry*

Maybe someday I'll recreate it on opengrid, but for now I'll just have my pictures to remember it by.

@Imogen - What a gorgeous area! The Youtube really highlighted it well. Thank you for sharing that with us.

@Feral - Another amazing and absolutely unique build. I'm getting nostalgic just seeing and hearing the stories of these SL homes and former homes.

How many times have we (at least I and some other residents) said that lowering the tier structure would encourage more land sales which I believe in turn would result in more residents remaining in SL. I was just sick when I had to start selling off my land, and I hadn't even built my "dream" on it yet, but as you said, Feral, I couldn't continue to afford the tier.

But no, LL instead axes these forums in favor of those ugly blogorums and introduces whatever the heck that Avatar United thing is. (Amongst all its other blunders during the last year.)
