Hi there, i am thinking about getting myself a 1024 to rent on the mainland somewhere but preferably in a nice sim (dont want convenants though so PI's are out).

Im just wondering what kind of price i should be expecting to pay for what i have described?

Thanks for your replys

It varies greatly depending upon area and landlord. Waterfront will cost you more. Sarah nerd is a reputable landlady, search for her and look at her prices and then compare them but remember that with Sarah Nerd you'll get good service.

You can search the classifieds for land rentals.

I'm curious - why don't you want covenants? We have them where I am and it's great. No clubs, no shops, no signs, no shouting, no ban lines, no obtrusive builds. It makes for a peaceful & enjoyable sim that is, for the most part, lag free.

As to your question - it depends on many factors & you're just going to have to look around & see what is on offer. Do a bit of research & eventually you should be able to come up with what is a reasonable figure for what you're looking for. But remember, service can be crucial too. A landlord that is rarely online and/or doesn't have any staff on hand can ruin what is an otherwise perfect location.

depends what you want out of the rental.
personally, 'views' and waterfront are completely unimportant to me. i just want somewhere to drop some boxes, maybe a network server and some building tools. i'll probably put my home at 600m elevation :) id be more worried about the sim being full of campers and whatnot.
i think you will find most mainland rental outfits assume people will be paying rent out of their stipend and price accordingly. something like $200/wk for a 512 is common.
look in the forum here and slx for 'for rent' posts.

I agree it varies greatly on what you are looking for. Are you looking for a spot you can build something on or just a house to rent (I have one available *trips over shameless plug*).

Even when looking for mainland, some have houses on them that you can use already, some dont. Are you looking for just the size you posted or do you want a specific amount of prims. Some landlords *waves a hand* charge per prim. I have a lot w/water surrounding it, fabulous views and a pretty large with a house on it but it only would grant a few hundred prims really, but I go by how many prims the renter would be granted because I have a lot of land on the sim. So even though you want a 1024 plot, you realy could end up with more prims than you normally get if the landlord you rent from has more land. From what I have seen anywhere from 2-3L per prim is normal. Unless prices have gone way up and I missed it! A lot of places are going to charge per prim.

I have seen a LOT of "Rent this space" signs all across the new sims for some reason, so you should have a lot of luck if you look out in those areas for a rentable space. OR go into the classifieds and do a search on Home for Rent or Land for Rent etc. Take the time to visit each space and check out the prices to find a comparable one or ten and then make your choices from there. Yes, there are rental ads for mainland land, and not PIs...a lot more than you might think. Good luck in your land search!! :D

Sarah is fantastic but her rentals are estates. Skye Whitcroft is someone to to talk to about mainland rentals.

Hmm did she used to rent mainland? I could have sworn I saw Mainland rentals from Sarah Nerd when I started here in March.

Now I'm thinking I might have dreamt it, which would be most worrying and if I'm having dreams about Sarah Nerd they could be a bit more exciting than checking out her rental prices!

I rent a 1024m mainland lot from Elanthius Flagstaff for 1680/month. That's a little more than 1.5L /sm/month. I also rent from MarmelaGramela Doesburg and pay 1.5L/sm/month.
Both are on mainland sims.
