I put my land into group ownership, I have built a 6 story apartment building and now accidently deleted half my apartment building when I set auto return on It seems everything I and alts added added with my group tag on has been returned :/ Do I need to deed everything to the group to prevent this again?

Maybe not deed to group but mark share with group? Though I think with my group, we just have to build with our group tag activated and it works out okay. Also, in options, is okay to create objects, etc? We have Residents with scripts only enabled but Group members can create objects and scripts. The only time things get returned is if we forget to wear our group tag.

You have to have that group activated when you rez objects on the land, or go into each one of the objects and set it to the same group the land is set to.
If the group tag on the object isn't the same as the land group, the object will get returned.

Things don't have to be deeded to the group in order to stay around, just having the group set is enough (right-click, Edit and you can set the group there). You'd use "Share with Group" if other people in the group need to be able to move the item around easily (remember that group members with the proper ability will be able to "Take" the item as well). You'd "Deed" if it contained a script that only works if the owner is the same as the land owner such as a TV, "DVD", radio, security orb, etc (there's a group ability that decides who is allowed to set group-deeded items for sale, so you'll want to check that as well). Also don't forget that deeding means transferring ownership, so "next owner can" permissions apply as soon as you deed, which in the case of something you built yourself would be no mod, no copy trans. You might come across a reference that a no transfer item needs group-deeding in order to work properly, but that's currently no longer possible. Only transfer items can be deeded to a group. (There are more creative uses for "Share with Group" and "Deed" but those should be the every-day reasons I can think of )
