Is it somehow possible to change your last name? I so often see people with names that make sense together, and I can't help but wonder if they were just waiting for that surname, got lucky, or somehow changed their name....

No you can't change your name except under extreme circumstances, and even then you will have to pay for it.

No hon. Some people watch the name list (best way, thru Adz's site, see /128/6e/217777/1.html) and wait for a cool name to show up, then create an alt that becomes their main.

Start an new AV from the viewer start page (costs 10$). Log in as your old AV and send over your shape and skin and any transferable inventory. You won't be able to get any of the non-transferable stuff.
It's really too bad we are stuck with the names we pick at the very beginning before we know anything about how we use SL. I happen to like my name though  |

Start an new AV from the viewer start page (costs 10$). Log in as your old AV and send over your shape and skin and any transferable inventory. You won't be able to get any of the non-transferable stuff. It's really too bad we are stuck with the names we pick at the very beginning before we know anything about how we use SL. I happen to like my name though costs 10$? I can make alts for free.. why would it cost 10$? o.o |

There used to be a fee for alts. LL discontinued it, but it still shows up on some of the SL site's informational pages. oh okies, thanks... they charged for it? WHen... you could have one with a diff email for free? Thats kinda silly but oh well lol |

If they caught you with an 'unregistered' alt prior to the fee removal, they'd freeze the account...possibly your main as well. How would they? Unless you tried to go premium with the same info they really couldn't could they? |

A high number of transactions going between the two. Some people are just dumb, and made statements about such-and-such being their alt. Of course, most of these items could be accounted for by having a personal RL relationship with another Resident, so I'd guess it was more hassle than it was worth, even if they only went after blatant offenders. So, no more fee. But they can freeze your account if you lie about anything at sign up and they catch you. _____________________

I happen to like my name though From what I've seen, a really good shape/skin is non transferrable. And thank goodness for not being able to change your last name. With the average life span of a "partnership" in SL, can you imagine how many Lindens it would take to just keep ontop of all the name change requests?! _____________________

I am a bit confused re the name thing. Is it LL that chose and release them? I registered months ago but never got the confirmation email so just forgot about it. Anyhoo at that time there were very few names available. This time when I registered there seemed to be heaps. Getting the name you wanted was still a bind if you had set ideas about your first name. I did!

I did! THey set new ones whe they feel like it... and I think theres a limit to how many can have one surname, so in an older batch there might be fewer available |
