I really don't want to bother anyone with this, but I have been searching the forums now for a good 25 minutes and not getting any answers, so please accept my apology if this is answered already somewhere.
Anyway, I am interested in running music from my pc into my home in SL and have no clue on how to do it. Do I ned sometype of special software? Or sometype of special permission? Any help on this would greatly be appriciated.

you need to stream the music, then enter the url/ip:port in the land menu.
not sure if you can use shoutcast, but i suspect you can.

If you login to the support portal area under the knowledge base area there are several articles on streaming music in SL.
Or you might like to visit my store in Bisque and pick up a copy of my streaming music in SL notecard from the blue/white information stand.
It has a overview of streaming music in SL (radio stations, mp3's) then goes on to talk about how setup various programs including winamp/shoutcast, sam, nicecast, and others, if you are going to do live streaming.

Once you get things set up, you may need to increase your bandwidth in order to actually hear anything...that threw me off for a while.
