I was trying on all the hair in my inventory, and I put on something from a freebie pack called Tinkerbell Hair. Now I can't get it off! I've never had this problem with any clothes, hair or attachments before.

It shows up as "Worn" in inventory, but if I right-click it there, it has no "Take Off" option, but it still has "Wear". SL seems to know that I'm wearing it, because if I edit my Appearance, under the Hair option it says I'm wearing Tinkerbell hair. But there is no Take Off option there either. I click "Wear" again .... still no "Take Off".

I have detached and taken off EVERYTHING, using both the pie menu and the edit pulldown menu, and it is still there. I have put other hair on and taken that hair off, it is still there. I have logged off and back on, it is still there. I have put on a different shape, it is still there.

Is there something I can reset to get rid of it?

Nika

ps This was in a box called Freebie: 69 Clothes from the Freebie warehouse.

Thanks for the warning. Note to self: Do NOT ever put on Tinkerbell Hair.

Wish I could help, but you've already done everything I can think of except maybe put on another skin?

Figured out the answer!! This hair is not built to go on a bald cap, it actually changes the AV hair. Old school!!

So all I had to do was put on a bald base and all OK.

Thanks!

LOL! I must have one of the few AVs in SL that deliberately kept "old school" hair.

I haven't found any prim hair styles that I like because hair designers insist on having bangs and locks dangling over the face. I wanted a short, swept back prim hair style for my AV. So far, the only approach that lets me do that is default AV hair with a hair texture applied.

Regan - I have tons of prim hair as you describe (shorter or swept back, no bangs). In fact, only 2 of my maybe 40 prim hairstyles has bangs or gets in the way of my face. You might want to check out ETD, Calla, Get Tickled or other shops like Rita (forgot her last name arghh). If you're in game later today (I am EST US), I can show you some that might work for you :)

Should be an FAQ about this

It happens so often to newbies. It happened to me and this forum gets a question at least once a week. Hair, skin, shape and eyes are treated just like clothes EXCEPT you cannot take them off. You can ONLY replace them with another. So you can walk around with out a shirt but not without eyes.

It makes sense once you know the answer but there is no clue in the menu system that would indicate this critical difference. I don't recall it being mentioned on Help Island (and I read pretty much every notecard there).

Forcing your userbase to figure things out by trial and error is not as good as proper documentation. But it is a lot cheaper!

This is just one of the many cases of the SL UI not behaving in the obvious manner.
