I have tried searching in many areas, but I can't find out what certain symbols in search, inventory, forums, and other areas mean. Please tell me that there is a list somewhere?

I'm not sure if you mean graphic symbols or l337 speak, as in symbols from the keyboard showing up as designs.
I have never personally noticed symbols in anything. However, people like to use ~!@ and <3 as common used 'tags' to identify their clothing, or items, or stand out with an event or store. |

Some examples would help, I'm kinda intrigued.

I believe they mean the icons in SL - for example, on the map you'll see the Linden Hand for classified listings, stars for events, I for infohub - in your inventory, different item types have different icons - a box for an object, a hand for a glove, pants for - can you guess?
![]() I don't know that there is a list of what they all are, but they're fairly easy to recognise - the map has a key of all its symbols, and in inventory, just look at what your items actually *are* and then you can probably guess what other items with the same icon are. For starters, each type of clothing you can have has a different symbol - pants, gloves, socks, undershirt/pants, jacket etc. Objects are a box - scripts kinda look like a script and notecards, uh, notey. Check what folder they're in too - a lot of things you get/upload automatically go to the right folder for their type, like animations and sounds. PS: Desmond hurt my brain. |

I was intentionally vague because my question did touch on several of your responses. I understand in inventory that there is an obvious connection between icons and locations however, when doing a search, a number of icons leave me baffled and i am just surprized that there is not a list of them.
Thanks, Spirit |

I had this same question. Although the map does list most symbols, there's one that has me confused. The mini map shows green dots for people, but it also shows green "T's". And the dots and T's change back and forth. What do the T's represent? I've walked directly up to where a T shows on the map and there seems to be nothing there.

In the minimap, a "T" means that the avatar is at least 10 meters higher than you. An upside down "T" means that the avatar is at least 10 meters below you. A dot means that they're at the same altitude, within +/- 10 meters of you.

Thanks! That explains a LOT about when T's and dots change back and forth.

pfft...
It means... pfft, i don't know ![]() blue in the mini-map means you own it. the red icon at the top of the mini-map is how much land in the sim has been claimed. This icon will only ever not be red on the preview grid. _____________________

Landmarks in Inventory have two colors. their pushpins are either red or brown. What's up with that?
