Hello everybody,

I am looking a music-link with nice easy listening music that I can add to my ground.

Does anyone has a link of a sender that plays music like that?

Thanks in advance,
Morwen.

www.shoutcast.com and Winamp.

Find a music stream you like (must be MP3), if its a choice of bandwidths I recommend the lowest setting you can tolerate (24 works fine) to reduce the music bandwidth to leave more for Second Life.

Alt-3 from Winamp brings up the stream info; copy the numeric URL from the top, paste it into the "Media" settings in SL's About Land box, and that should work.

In my store (the Nerd Emporium, Rosieri), I sell a home stereo that will accept up to 12 preset stations that you can choose from to change on your land parcel, if you fancy multiple streams without the hassle of changing them manually. It's a very simple script, which is easy to edit and put the information in with your choice of stations; obviously it comes with a selection of stations as default but these can be changed.

SL now also accepts .ogg streams. (I know as that's what I broadcast on.)

Oooh, I didn't know that. Flash flv movie support would complement that wonderfully. There's so much youtube stuff I'd love to put on my screen. ;)

I use shoutcast.com a lot when choosing music streams because I can search for artists/tracks currently being played by all stations in their database. The stream URL is in the playlist (pls) file then give you. (Just open in notepad.)

The media bit with QT has _limited_ support for Flash content.

Free-licensed music resources

I suggest you to use free-licensed music (in most cases, this means a CC license, see http://creativecommons.org/learnmore). Here are some advantages of free-licensed music:

you don't have to pay money,
you don't have to ask permissions,
you don't have to follow silly limitations as how-many-times-did-i-play-this-song-today,
you're complying with the law,
AND (this is very important to me) AUTHORS ARE HAPPY WITH IT. They choose a free license because they are happy with people freely using their music.

I will provide here some free-licensed-music resources links. Follow them, in most cases you also will find a stream URL for these albums. This should make easy their use in SL.
These ones are not direct links to mp3 files: you will have to browse the websites, listen to the music and choose it. That's what DJs usually do before playing music, actually ;-)

More than 8000 music albums (electronic, indie, house, rock, industrial and many more):

You may also want to join the group or visit Kula. Just use the Search with a "creative commons" keyword.

P.S.
Free-licensed music is not a new subject. However, AFAIK 2 or 3 years ago there wasn't too much GOOD free music. Now, there are tons of free albums and many of them are good, really. Don't believe to "no money = no quality" bullshits. Just give it a try.

P.P.S.
Sorry for my baad eengleesch.
