I couldn't think of a topic Title simply because there are too many problems.
After this voice and these (voice) updates for performance, it has simply made SL worse. I'm now experiencing freeze's from 5 secs to 3 or so minutes and even more lag and god knows what else. I know what alot of you will say... but hey, I don't care. Its voice and thats it. Problems and problems, they never stop. something goes wrong... and now that I'm getting back into SL after suffering many issues with it, I'm beginning to get pushed away from it again. Employ people who will get the job done and not a bunch of idoits that are stoned all week.

Hi, If you percieve the voice feature to be an issue, turn it off in Preferences, you don't have to use it. No more than you have to turn up all the eye candy if your system cannot cope with it.

Who knows if it's voice or not.. but since it went live all over I've had nothing but problems either (and yes I have disabled voice). Constant lag, 10 min waiting for a location to rez, stuck in one spot unable to move, IM and open chat frozen and or delayed minutes ..... and who knows what else.. And then after all that mysteriously when I TP to a new location everything might just work as normal, until either I crash or try TPing somewhere else.

It's not voice. I don't have it, didn't install the new viewer. But I have had 10x more problems with SL in the past couple of weeks then I did in my first 2 months. I don't think the Lindems are ignoring the problems, just not saying anything official about them. As I have said, they need to spend their time for the next 2 updates actually fixing things, before they add anything new.

Star, could you be more specific about the problems you're experiencing?
Some issues normally attributed to lag (being ruthed for example) can actually be down to a settings conflict between old and new viewer, and simply deleting the settings directory is enough to resolve it. Maybe your issues, or some of them, have a solution that's just as easy, but it's difficult to say without the specifics.

Depending on your account status you might try submitting a Support Ticket. The downside is the Linden staff working within Support appear to be more concerned with /closing/ support tickets than actually taking the time /provide a solution/ and _then_ close the support ticket.
And, when all else fails, take money off the table. You get what you pay for. If you feel you're not getting it, then don't pay for it.
[Most of the present problems within Linden Lab and with their staff stem from a failure to understand that the /money/ has to come from somewhere and, though those options packages are very very pretty, companies with unhappy unhappy unhappy customers rarely get to the point of being able to make an IPO (or reverse merger) and thus the options never reach fruition. This is mainly due to a failure to have a metric in place for measuring /why/ a customer reduces the value of their account and the /what/ of by how much... so... if you reduce your account status, etc., drop a notecard on Zee Linden (the CFO) letting him know you're now paying less due a support issue that went unresolved. Eventually, Zee might have enough information to be able to walk over to the support-side (and/or development side) of LL and say, "Hey, based on these numbers we've lost money equivalent to all of your salaries. We're going to have to try something new. The new thing won't include any of existing support staff. You all got really good at closing support tickets but in the process you took your eyes off of the money. We're a business. It's what we do. We make money. Collectively, you've all lost too much money by failing to resolve issues so... we have to let you all go."]

From: Elex Dusk ... This is mainly due to a failure to have a metric in place for measuring /why/ a customer reduces the value of their account ... Absolutely agree. While I've actually gotten pretty good support--or, anyway, good *value* for the support, compared to what I'd be paying, say, Micro$oft--it's worrisome that there seems to be no collection of customer satisfaction data at all. And a side-effect of that, I suspect, is the (noted) emphasis on quick ticket resolution--probably because it's practically the only thing being measured, and hence the only thing really being managed. I try to throw in "attaboys" in ticket-closing comments, but suspect they end up in the bit bucket. One thing that might justify some optimism is the very existence of the new support system; for all its faults, at least it's a vehicle that *could* be used to collect data about customers' satisfaction with support.

Prior to this newest viewer, I found the First Look viewer with voice to more stable. But something’s happened over say the last two weeks to degrade the gird. Be it preparation for voice, terrorist attacks by the Patriotic Nigras, or just continued stress due to a plethora of other unresolved issues. The voice component was iffy most of the weekend, but overall performance was unchanged (poor). I have a robust pc so I could imagine anyone with anything less then say 2 gig of ram, 21st century processor and up to spec graphics card is…well toast. One thing that might help is to unplug your modem for 30 seconds then plug it back in.

The voice 'feature' does add a little to the stresses placed on the client, even though the actual chat servers are all 3rd party run/hosted, the client still has to poll who is within range, spatual positioning etc.. etc.. Agreed it's minimal, but yet another thing taxing the already unstable platform, cannot be a good thing. If you are finding differences between SIMs, that maybe sim server related, or network congestion to certain nodes in the network. A lot of people don't realise the actual load They cause on the servers as they TP about fully laden with scripted HUDs, tons of bling, flexi etc, not forgetting over bloated inventories. Everything about you, has to be transfered not only between the sim servers, but then broadcast to anyone within range including adjoining sims as you rez, along with all the other peoples information about them broadcasted to your client for rendering/interacting.
