Will low level clouds stay?

Does anybody know if low level clouds will remain once Windlight is finished and released into the main viewer? I was using Firstlook and must admit that Windlight looks pretty, but only from the ground. You can't fly up and get any closer to the clouds. I really enjoy being able to go though the clouds... and hope that they will combine low level clouds with Windlight effects.

You can read about it in this JIRA entry:

https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-960

A lot of people complained, especially airplane pilots and skydivers, so they added an option to turn the old clouds back on. The change was made on their internal testing version, and hopefully we'll see it in the next FirstLook-WindLight viewer.

Ok, thanks for pointing that out. So it seems that there will be a toggle to enable old style clouds... at least until the new style 3d clouds are implemented. I am still not sure whether this means that old style clouds can co-exist with windlight or not. Must we then choose one or the other but not both at the same time?

I found a good video of what the upcoming new 3d clouds will look like...

Looks really nice!

Given that the windlight system is based on stuff rendered on planes, and the conventional clouds are just built-in particles, I don't see why they cannot coexist. They are completely separate systems, and it doesn't seem like there would be any technical conflicts.

I wonder if the old sun could coexist with Windlight.

From what I've heard they will be eventually setting up the moon to go in cycles instead of being full all the time. It's something they will work into it eventually.

Maybe that will calm down some of the population! ;)
