I believe you have to sell them on Lindex first, then when you payment is due, LL will deduct your tier from your balance (and any extra they will charge to CC/PayPal).

No, you can't. The only thing you can do is sell your L$ and use those funds to pay your tier.
Good luck!

I have looked into this and its bit confusing the only way this would be worth doing is if you earn over 44k a month in lindens and hope someone will buy your lindens within the exchange and its bit confusing.
If you're not making whole lot of Lindens and buying your lindens it you would actually lose money reselling Lindens to pay teir fees and it would be bit more finicially sensible to just have the tier come directly out of your credit or bank debit or paypal account if your teir is below certain number because the Lindens lose value when you resell them.
I may be wrong here but that is what I figured out by my own calculations.

Sorry for responding to an older thread, but I am confused by the answers given to Ryder. Strife says just sell your lindens on Lindex and don't withdraw the USD from your account and it will automatically get deducted from your monthly charge. But then Pan Fan and FD Spark say it's not possible. Huh? Somebody have a straight answer?

Strife is correct. Sell your Lindens on LindeX and accumulate a US$ balance. Your tier will then be taken from this.

What Pan Fan and FD Spark mean is that technically you can't pay your tier with L$ directly - you have to convert them into US$ first, as Strife described.

You must convert your Lindens into realworld currency by selling them on the Lindex. Then you will have a US$ balance on your account from the sale of L$. When your tier and account fees come due LL will apply what is in your US$ balance towards what you owe before charging your credit card or paypal account.

If you sell your L on the Lindex, and don't cash out the USD, it is deducted from that. It's how I paid my premium too :)
