I was given gift of considerable value and I am deciding what to do.
Land dealings is bit too risky.
Banking and regular investment things here are too unregulated.
What would would best way to invest with less of risk witnin SL?
I thought about expanding the land I have but with what I have with current market in my neighborhood not sure if its worth it.
Any advise?
What would best way to use 28k?

28k US dolllars? If its Linden dollars there is not much you can do think. If you have a shop you may consider investing them in advertising (classifieds?).

Is it 28k linden or US? If it's US dollars, well, me personally, I'd invest it in the RL stock market, not Second life :)

there aren't a lot of options in SL

there is a bank ginko bank that gives intereset seems to have been aruond for awhile

plus there is land

or you can play with it on the lindex and try to make it grow buy selling high and buying low over and over again..

can't think of any other choices though really

Was thinking about land if there another group of cheap land like I found last week.
It was gift/loan and I am not really interested in taking money out of the game yet.
Land can be bit scary especially if one's track record is to lose money in it.
I only did well last week out of a fluke but if I sold now I wouldn't be able to buy another spot of that size in current market.

I defiantly would NOT stick it in Ginko. I mean hell, every day I see a new news story or university coming out with a new story about how Ginko is a scam. Only a naive moron would put their money in Ginko at this point. I'd use the money to start my own shop, personally. Do you have a specific skill in anything?

If not, I'd put the money in SL Bank or OurBank. They pay a bit less than some other investment projects in Secondlife, but at least they tell you who they are. It seems crazy to me that after all these universities and real world news outlets are telling people that Ginko is a scam, that people still recommend them. It is JUST like the old bank in Eve Online right before they STOLE everyone's money. Seems silly to me.

To sum it up, I'd spend the L$ to buy a little plot of land and set up a shop. If you don’t do that, invest it in a project which tells you who they actually are. All these "investment firms" and "banks" paying mega high interest rates are nothing more than scams. Right before the Eve Online bank went under there were a bunch of people rallying to support them, just as we see people doing for Ginko now. Sooo silly. Invest in your own project or in a firm which tells you who they are. These "secret banks" will be all shut down soon anyway. Good luck!

Edit: To sum it totally up, opening your own shop would be the lowest risk investment. Investing your L$ in SL Bank or another bank which actually tells you more than how to deposit and withdraw would be the next step, then if you really could care less and just want to go all in, you can invest in Ginko or other banks which give no information what so ever, and are probably scams, but pay higher interest. But because you are looking for "lower risk" investments, I'd say go for your own shop or SL Bank. That's about as low risk as you'll find in SL. Good luck again! :)

Thanks for your advise.
I got land that I use for private prim research faculity.
I do have three shops I rent but I am still learning and far from being profressional.
I am do digital art textures, by no means a expert.
I want to make fabrics to help new players make there own clothing in appearance because personally I find it fun and want to encourage others to play with tools
I am experimenting with weird things to do with prims, shirts, clothing, avatars. buildings, waterfalls.
I am learning some basic scripting.
I have small team I have formed, we all are relatively new.
I am trying to find way for more people to share there creations without paying rent, but commissions in one place I am assisting the owner with my team.
Issue is the sim keeps getting shutting down and there the traffic issue.
Second Life isn't about me getting rich off it but more about the friendships, creating and enjoying doing it.
At this point I am probably just going to save up money for vision I have of space with no casinos, that beautiful, friendly and lots of artist and lots and lots of prims to play with.
What I want is sim but its going to be while before I get there.
I am not interested in becoming homeless in real life to get it though.
I realize though I need slow down before I bite off more then I can chew and imediately check myself into prim addiction treatment clinic prompty.
LOL
