Hello.
Many of us are having some problems with the ball-to-table tutorial in the Orientation Island. All of us have read the "Click Me" item next to the sign and followed the instructions that it has stated. However, none of us have been successful even after following the instructions provided..
Are we forgetting something really significant or are we just stupid?

It's kind of a pointless lesson anyway. Other than that ball on Orientation Island, I have never encountered an item I could move by just clicking and dragging it.

So... it won't be detrimental to skip that part of the tutorial then?

Hey, a lot of us did it, but didn't "advertise" it. I spent almost 2 weeks on orientation island. Playing 2-3 hours a day. In "noob" clothing because it looked better than anything I came up with in the appearance tut. As far as the ball table item, if you find a really tall hill that's got a good grade on it, if you put out a cylinder, hollow, stretch it, path cut to .5, and sit on it, it' makes a very funny sled. Friends and I took turns pushing each other around on it. You can really go flying on it. Ok, we're all easily amused in my little group. Don't point! Welcome to SL, OP, enjoy your stay. A

RTFM Baby!

Another freak here: I spent 2 days on Help Island and then another 2 at an Linden tutorial place (now defunct) and the Ivory Tower.
I abhor people who cannot RTFM.

From: Chellonia Regent I abhor people who cannot RTFM. I love to find things out by try and trail.... and if that doesn't work, you have another reason to talk with someone. Manuals? Where that not things you throw as first away when you have bought something new? Morwen.

The "physical object dragging" isn't common, but sandbox geeks tend to play with it a lot. If you're going to spend a lot of time building as a passtime (rather than a business) it's a good skill to pick up.. but you can indeed pick it up later.
I remember the day that someone set some camping chairs to physical. Me and my friend rezzed a couple of rings and began herding the chairs around the site, then corralled them. We joked about making a quick airship vehicle, and scooping the chairs onto it, and seeing how far we could get before they stopped working.
Physical Object Dragging is also routinely used to move a friend who's gone AFK. Can't make em sit on a vehicle, but often times you can build a ramp, and scoop them into one using a "bulldozer" prim.
Generally speaking though, aside from goofing around, and playing a few minor games with the physics engine.. it's not really all that useful. (unless you wanna play air hockey)
