I just wanted to say thank you to Linden Labs for banning gambling. It's from your wonderful choices that caused all the big-time casino owners to cash out their Lindens in Ginko, leaving nothing left for us to cash out. A year and half of hard work and savings was in my Ginko account. Over 200K of earnings from my talents and they are not accessable. I highly doubt I'll ever get it back. It will be longgggggggggggggggggg time before that happens, and by then I will find a much better game to play.

Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

Blaming LL for Ginko's failure is a bit like shooting yourself in the foot and then blaming the government for allowing handguns.

Also, if Ginko was stable to begin with, it could have withstood the initial run.

"If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably isn't."

Ouch, that was an expensive lesson to learn.

You had plenty of warning when LL said they were cutting out advertising and search for gambling and casinos soon after they had the FBI and CIA look things over.

You should have read the writting on the wall... And heeded it by getting your money out when you had the chance.

Do you always blame others for your own failings, or just online?

Have to sympathize for someone unable to get at 200k Lindens for any reason.

It is not Linden Labs fault of course.

But its unfortunate she cant get to her money.

I imagine them banning Gambling cost many Casino owners directly more than 200k.

Which is also unfortunate.

And that still isnt Linden Labs fault. They have to act on advice of their lawyers.

You have been a bit out of the loop it appears. Before you make another deposit, have a look at this thread: /327/64/200121/1.html

Points well taken but what I want to know is why would you put your money into a fake bank anyway? Its not a real bank. No place are they FDIC. If people want to put their money away for safe keeping, put it in a RL bank.

I can /sympathize/ for anyone. Yeah, sucks to loose money. I'm your sterotypical starving college student, trust me, I can sympathize. A fellow human being is hurting, and from that perspective, yeah, there is some sympathy.

But at the same time, money being tight makes me really careful with money. Nothing about Ginko made me trust them. It seemed like a foolish risk for too little reward. It seemed like it would turn out more or less exactly how it has turned out, for more or less exactly the reasons that seem to have come to light.

Premonitions aside, people put /scads/ of real life money into a program run by an essentially anonymous individual promising fantastically high returns on their money and offering absolutely zero disclosure. Now, when things turn to crap, they start lashing out and blaming people for things that weren't their fault. In that respect, no, I have no sympathy. It's mostly their own fault and Ginko's fault, not (insert random target of anger here). Place your anger in the right place, and I'll be more sympathetic.

I was gonna post a suggestion but i hate getting yelled at so i sent you a message ingame since your forum pm's are now working.

also blaming LL for a third party's decision though to gamble with your money isn't really where the blame lies look at the guy is truly responsible LL has nothing to do with this one its not lag or asset server issues here its an ingame "business" of sorts its like me going to LL because I dont like the colour of your widgets or the price is too high or something. You made the stuff and created the business not them they just provided the medium for you to use. Its like blaming the maker of some kind of booze for a guy getting hit by a drunk driver ..

Yes LL's sudden decision has had an impact on Ginko etc. It's not LL's fault that people invested in Ginko.

However anyone investing big in anything here, seriously, with the way LL will make a business decision overnight, you're gambling. Anyone investing big here is taking one hell of a chance.

I was just thinking that about the guy who bought 20 sims at auction in the last 24 hours.

Some people just are convinced that market bears must be wrong and recovery will happen when the sun rises tomorrow. I was just just watching "Flip that House" on TV and boggling at the stupidity of some people who bought a waaaayyyy too expensive home, at the top of the market, with no clue about materials and labor costs and they think they can flip this thing in a month and make a profit -- they even know we're on the downside of a bubble but they don't believe the "negative people" telling them this was a mistake.

It's kind of like watching a horror movie as the ditzy girl goes to open the closet door where you know the killer is hiding and you want to yell at the screen "DON'T OPEN THE DOOR!!!"

Anyway...all good advice to the contrary, some people are just going to make bad decisions.

What a mess, huh?

and he was so over budget he coudnt take the offer he got , so it sat for months and months, I was thinking, "why not fix the messed up stuff that was still there"

I wonder if they got divroced - the flip was so they could get a new house, remember?
