I crashed, and went to log back in. It said the system was logging me out and to try back at a given time. so i wait and still the same message. I contacted a friend who is in sl. and they said i am showing as being still logged in and standing in a shop. what can i do?
This happened like 2 hours ago and still same messages even after rebooting my computer

Go to preferences in the login screen and general. Select Show Login Location in Login Screen. Go back to the login screen and chose "type region name here" and try Pooley. See if it might be the region you were logging into.
If not, check any router or modem you might be connected to. Sometimes I have to reboot mine to make it work.

Also try having your friend send you an IM.. I hear that sometimes pokes the server enough to realize that you're not there any more.

What Sindy said. Sending an IM to a 'stuck' avatar seems to make the system relize you aren't there anymore and finishes the log out transaction so you can log back in.
It doens't have anything to do with your computer or a router or anything, SL thinks you are still there.
