on the secondlife homepage it shows the current stats. The ammount of US spent daily use to be over a million a day every day but has now dropped below 300 thousand a day. Have they changed the way they calculate this figure? ohterwise that seems like an alarming drop to me. Maybe everyone is cashing out and leaving the game.

I would say the latter. And I've also noticed a decrease of concurrent logons too. Alarming? Not to me...........I'm hoping its a sign to the powers that be that the base and bread and butter of their venture has had a enough.
The little action today with shutting down First Land my be the straw.........I look for some real changes in the immediate future. And some will not be pleasant. To bad for us but it would give me some pleasure if Linden Labs does take a hit finanially and maybe that would get their collective heads out of their butts.

Any of those possibilities are plausible; it is also possible that the information is behind due to general lag/server problems. I think I remember a blog post where this has happened before much like with the transaction history pages. Sorry I don't have a link though.

From: someone Maybe everyone is cashing out and leaving the game. Not really Born out by the ever increasing numbers of people entering the Game. From: someone Have they changed the way they calculate this figure? Most likely as "Creative Accounting" has always made Businesses more attractive to Investors, and Advertisers. While the Numbers probably weren't Untrue, they were presented in a Fashion that made them More Attractive. Angel.

If you're playing Sl like a bear market, you may wish you'd sold long and gotten out...grid slowdowns spreading lag across every sim, first land no longer available for plundering away from prospective developers by vigilantly circling land vultures!
But there's no need to panic! You've got the majority of end users who are playing more for recreation than investment returns, and the majority of companies still see SL as a viable platform for virtual development and market testing of real world products. There's still fun and productivity to be had for those who aren't bloodsuckers!

I'm 100% certain it's a glitch. I've sold enough land in the last 24 hours to have over 1% of all total USD exchanged. Now, I know this is obviously NOT the case. If I were to have bought land with this money (which I didn't), I'd have 2%... Something is fishy there... I would imagine it's missing the first digit or is just having problems keeping track of transactions at the moment.

Accounting seems to be really lagging too now as noted in other threads.
Today I transferred L$ between accounts and it took about 20 minutes to get there.
