I can't find any mention posted here or on the blog, my apologies if this is answered elsewhere(hence asking here first), but animated textures haven't been working for a few days now... any idea when they'll work again?

I don't think we can use animated gif image type textures but we can use certain scripts that make for example waterfall movements, spinning,etc. I am still learning myself not sure what type of movements different scripts can do.

I don't know what you are talking about. All my animated textures seem to be working fine.

You may have accidentally turned off the animated texture feature - I've done that in the past. If you have the Client/Server menus activated (via ctrl-alt-shift-D) then pressing CTRL-ALT-A will turn of animated textures. pressing that again will turn them back on.
