I have my thoughts on this and I'm sure there are a lot of different opinions. I think it would be interesting to find out what many think.
What are the good and bad points of Supply Linden selling on the LindeX?

It stabilizes the exchange rate so that if you are paying rent you can accurately predict how many lindens you need to buy/sell.
Beyond that there aren't really any direct advantages for users. Indirect: LL has more money and can provide better support & services.

I'm happy to expect to be able to sell at 270 or 271.

From: mcgeeb Gupte I'm happy to expect to be able to sell at 270 or 271. Depending on your viewpoint you may have that one the wrong way around.... You can currently expect to buy lindens at 270 ish and sell at around 281. I appeciate that sounds "not right" but do the sums on a sheet of paper, use $100 US real dollars as your purchase (271) use the lindens purchased as your sell back into US dollars (281) and you will see what I mean. Test it by getting a direct quote on the LindeX and don't forget to add 3% extra when you sell your Lindens back into US currency. (the extra charges on purchasing Lindens are not material) For your own information the difference between the two is called "the vig" or "spread" or "basis points". Choose what ever name you like so you understand commission charges on foriegn currency deals. No disrespect intended but I thought I would reply so newer people here understand charges Regards John

There'd otherwise not be enough lindens available as the game grows and new players want lindens. If they sell just enough to make up the difference between what people want to buy and what they want to sell the exchange should be stable. And is has been stable.
Should the game start to contract and more people cash out than in, they will lose this source of income or they will create crazy inflation if they continue to sell.

From: Strife Onizuka It stabilizes the exchange rate so that if you are paying rent you can accurately predict how many lindens you need to buy/sell. So you see Supply Linden as a tool to keep the exchange rate at a target which LL has stated that there is no target. Would it not be best if they just set a sell price at say 270 and leave it at that? From: Strife Onizuka Indirect: LL has more money and can provide better support & services. I agree with this to a point. This is good if we knew that the money is actually going for services like this. From: Anya Ristow Should the game start to contract and more people cash out than in, they will lose this source of income or they will create crazy inflation if they continue to sell. Actually this would cause deflation as the value of the linden would decline as more and more bump each other to get their lindens sold faster.
