OK, I think I have read everything posted on this subject, I would just like someone to check my maths, please :)

Myself and my RL bf have decided to upgrade to premium and buy land. We are only going for the minimum to start with. I think this is the order we need to do it in.

a) Both upgrade to Premium - we get the 512m2 allocation.
b) Both buy First Land of 512m2 (next to each other) - before donating the land allocation to the group, otherwise SL wipes out our entitlement to First Land.
c) Create a group for the two of us (good thing now groups only need 2 people!).
d) Donate both our lands to our group, and our land allocation.

OK here's the bit that confuses me. When we donate the land to the group, there's this 10% bonus. Do we both donate 512m2, and the group then gets awarded 102m2 (10% of 1024m2) to it's total allocation automatically? Or can we donate 563m2 (512m2 + 10%) land allocation, and that way the group ends up with the 102m2 extra that way?

Either way, we should end up with 1024m2 of purchased land owned by the group, and 102m2 of extra land allocation that we can buy a bit more with? I assume that SL will then not charge either of us the next tier price if we do then find 102m2 to buy - as long as we buy it in the group name?

I hope that all makes sense to somebody, and they can check this for me!

Thanks muchly!

What you outlined will work fine, however I would point out that deeding the land and donating your tier should happen as one single step, or you'll run into the situation where you'll double your tier (and get charged extra as a result).

When you deed the land to a group (from memory and the grid is down so I can't check) there will be a "Make donation/contribution with deed" checkbox that you check to transfer both the land and tier in one go.

The group bonus of 10% (rounded either up or down to the next multiple of 16m² I think) is automatically applied once tier has been contributed. So you both would donate 512m² (as part of the deeding - see above) but the total amount of land the group can own would be 1024m² + 10%.

After you deed both plots to the group I'd suggest an e) Join the two 512m² plots into one 1024m² which will make things easier to manage.

Hope that helped clear up some of the confusion :).

Kitty, thanks very much for your help, that all makes sense. I do remember reading about the "Make donation/contribution with deed" checkbox, so we will make sure we do that.

Once we've done all that, I'm looking forward to building some constructions on my own land!
